    wintex 6.0 available

Ironically just been doing some work on Wintek. More ironically just when I thought I had seen the back of bloody alarms I get a call to help get it working. Never thought I would have to buy a 56k modem again!

    Earthing?

Even I could tell in about 1 second what the fault was there, and I normally have to study these pictures for ages to spot the fault (if I even spot it! :p).

Veritas R8 - Is it possible to program this?

Its perfect now anyway the main speaker doesn't sound, the keypad is almost silent anyway just a very quiet beep nothing like enough to annoy next door :). Much quieter than the old one. However I had simply ripped 100% of the old system out and started from scratch, ended up with two...

self employed no work no income can i claim benefits?

JSA is means tested, if you more than x amount in the bank you can't get any money, but you can still sign on so you will get free dentists etc. But yep you can't sign on if you are self employed, you have to exit being self employed how it works in reality I am not so sure.

Veritas R8 - Is it possible to program this?

Was just the unsetting/setting really. The rest of the tones will hardly go off and it does it will only be the odd beep. But 30 seconds of setting bleep at 3:30 AM while I come in drunk from a club would annoy the neighbours some what!

Veritas R8 - Is it possible to program this?

Well when I was playing with it before it seems I have programmed it to do what I wanted. Now when I set or unset it, only the keypad bleeps and the speaker doesn't, but the speaker does sound if the alarm goes off :). Also turned down the put to turn down other things :). I think I...

Veritas R8 - Is it possible to program this?

Yeah of course I can't, as the bell output simply generates a current, and the speaker output generates different tones :) Was a blonde moment :p. I didn't realise the POT was over ridden in the event of alarm condition, I will try it and see :)

Veritas R8 - Is it possible to program this?

The alarm is finally wired, it took me 5 days!! working on it between jobs. Was a much bigger job than I had originally planned due to the taking my time to make sure it was very neat and problems with soft plaster meaning I had a lot of making good to do etc. Anyway I have a minor issue, I...

how do i fit a panic button

Is there a tamper loop for the bell box? If so and its not connected this needs to be shorted. Also if you have opened the box make sure the the spring switch is catching on the lid ok. I had the same problem with this evening when I commissioned my new install for the first time. Soon...

how do i fit a panic button

Yeah I forgot when I made that comment that alarm companies don't give the engineer code to their customers :p.

how do i fit a panic button

Easiest way to do it would be to wire into an unused zone and then program that zone as the a PA. The installation manual explains how to this if you have it if not they can be found on the web. Its probably easier just to wire into a new zone rather than try and modify any of the existing...

self employed no work no income can i claim benefits?

Probably not as you have savings, it seems unfair but it is the way it is. Job seekers allowance is designed for those in real poverty who can't afford to put food on their table. It does seem unfair but its the way it is. Also if you do go on JSA you're expected to seek work. I have...

Can I commision the end station without a bell box?

Got round that problem simply by making each PIR parallel as the rooms where the PIRS are in a sort of star anyway each PIR is on a different zone. The only circuit which will be in series is the kitchen window contacts. Just on a side note, probably one for another thread but do people...

Can I commision the end station without a bell box?

My brain is dead now so I cannot think logically, but will not wiring up the tamper on the PIR cause an issue or not? Do I need to short those contacts? I assumed the tamper is only for the end station and thus doesn't need to be shorted on the PIR. The PIRs are Texacom Reflex. Yep all...

Can I commision the end station without a bell box?

Not got as far as doing anything other than powering up the system yet. Not entered the engineers code or anything. The manual states that PIRs can take a few minutes to warm up so maybe it is just that? Its a Texacom Veritas R8 with a remote keypad. I have wired everything in parallel so...

    New Home alarm advice

I did a lot of research into this and I found the Visonic is the only real proper wireless alarm which is DIYable. In the end I decided to install a wired one because a) I enjoy doing it, b) it means I can practise my DIY skills more, c) its saving us over £200.

Can I commision the end station without a bell box?

I have used T&E, its perfectly secure and fine but obviously it is hide to route exactly where I want it but as longs as using T&E won't break any rules I will leave it. Having to call it a night now spent far too long doing this in-between jobs and my college work and night clubs. Getting...

Can I commision the end station without a bell box?

Nearly done the alarm now. Most the wiring is in place still got the contact circuit to add but all the PIRs are done. I wanted to start the testing process tonight to make sure all the PIRs work etc. Would it cause problems if I begin to setup the control panel before I wire up the bell box...

Texacomm Vertias R8 better than Honeywell ADE?

It all came today and I did order the speaker in the end, for the sake of £5 I decided I would see how the internal was is and add the external if required. Got all the right size raw plugs and screw bits together, drilled through the bricks last night to put the bell box cable through...

    Optima2 Plus burglar alarm

I replaced a faulty Optima box to a Veritas 8 about 8 years ago. Was a doddle without any issues. The Texecom instructions explain anything clearly. If the cables are not labelled make sure you label them all before disconnecting them from the old box though!!
