    The only fault after the nte that would lead to loss of dial tone is a loop,concealed wiring is very neat but tends to get trapped and cause loop or earth problems.Adsl filters quite often go faulty and will also put a loop on your line,hard to say without testing for myself but i would imagine...

    Is it a proper Openreach nte ,sounds like you have two faults,a loop on the extension ie 2 and 5 are in contact and a faulty adsl filter or frontplate.Please post some pictures as im a little confused by your explanation of the master socket .

    You need a krone idc tool it punches the cable down and cuts it flush,The cable has probably not taken in the idc connections on the back plate.You can with the aid of three way crimps crimp both extensions to one piece of cable then terminate that into the front plate.

    I did not know if HD SAT used the same cable as SKY DIGITAL or even if hd needed more than one copper path ?E.G one for the picture and one for the sound.

    Cheers for taking the time to answer,so is it just a case of connecting a hd box to the old cable and as long as the dish and lnb are still ok it will work,or do i need to re cable it ?,i only intend on using it in one room where the cable from the sky mini dish enters the house.

    If you live that close to YOUR exchange you should be looking at 6-7mbps,go on a adaptive adsl and if the speed is slow get someone out to improve it.

    Some fax machines are compatable with redcare,try ringing redcare support and ask there advice,i had this problem on a fault i was working on a few years back,the eu ended up having another line installed for the fax.

    All i can say is i once used some of this cable as i had no other internal cable with me,i had to run the cable through a false ceiling past some fluorescent lights,when i connected the socket to the cable the line was very noisy,i disconnected it and the noise went.

    What kind of cable have you used for the extension,it looks screened to me ?.This can cause noise problems if its not earthed instead of screening the cable i think it has the opposite effect . :?
