    Pub Prices

From memory, they charge even more in the evening when they have a band playing.

    Pub Prices

Temple Bar? That place is a tourist rip off. From memory, where my mum is from in county Limerick, it is about €6-6.50 for a pint of Guinness.

I am always in the pub... which is why I am not rich.

    Pub Prices

£100 for 30 drinks sounds v cheap. Where do you live? 1980? My west london local is £5 for a Kronenbourg, £4.90 for what is reputed to the be the 4th best pint of Guinness in west London. The next nearest pub is about £6.50 for a Kronenbourg.

    PVC door step damaged

Good point about drainage. It might be the case that the water drains onto the top of the sill. Thinking aloud... what about a metal nosing? https://www.sdslondon.co.uk/round-step-nosing.html You could paint it the correct colour.

Fair comment, but some days they, the general ones, can be over half of the page.

How to Clean Up This Pine

I would be surprised to find that the wood is glued. Try a section. From the image, I cannot tell if the wood has been treated or not. Typically, in my limited experience, they are not, but my experience is not definitive. In the short term, perhaps wipe the wood with bleach, that said, I...

    Not seeing general discussions

For quite a while, the "general" sub subsection has been (occasionally) toxic/diversive. I am not directly commenting on any posts made by fellow forum members. Is there any way of hiding them when I click on "new posts"? I come here to impart my knowledge, and to learn from others (with...

    First time shelf builder

In the old days, when a customer wanted alcove shelves, we scribed in 25mm MDF. We then used a mini-router to make notches in the MDF. Those notches would sit on top of 5 by 70 screws that were drilled into the walls. We would then fill the notches with 2 pack filler. If one screw was slightly...

Flip the timber and get another 20 years? It doesn't look that bad though.

Instant hot/boiling taps for the kitchen

In hard water areas, every kettle I have come across with a plastic window ends up leaking. I suspect that may be down to the descaling products used.

Instant hot/boiling taps for the kitchen

I don't know about that. I just recall him being pee'd off because the plumber didn't tell him that the main drinking water tap was no longer mains water. My customer only discovered that he was weeks away from requiring dialysis after moving into the new property. He worked pretty high up in...

Choosing a Bosch impact driver for screw driving

I wasn't advocating using regular bits day in, day out.. I was simply saying that I use my 12v so infrequently that I haven't bothered purchasing dedicated bits. I normally only use my impact to loosen stubborn screws. It was part of a drill/screwdriver plus impact combo. I had owned the impact...

With respect, that doesn't sound very stable. Someone in high heels standing on it will puncture it within seconds.

Surely, that is the lower part of the light fitting? Whoops, sorry, yeah you mean it gets pushed up to hold the upper part tight to the ceiling. My bad, sorry.

Instant hot/boiling taps for the kitchen

You are not supposed to drink chemically softened water. I only discovered that after a customer- at very short notice, discovered that he needed a kidney transplant. He then discovered that the stoopid plumbers had run the kitchen drinking water through the water softener. He was V annoyed...

What wire strippers do i need for 3 core (1cm+) wire?

Looks very much like the Knipex version. That claims to work with both flex and T&E, does the Wago version work with both? https://www.cef.co.uk/catalogue/products/5144082-stripping-tool-for-flat-and-round-cables Tnx

    tiling on wood

I would use SBR or a dedicated product. No harm in sealing all of the faces and edges.
