    Removing Stain from Bath

Hi Just bought a house and the bath looks gruby, I thought it was just a build up of dirt and got to work on it with a scrubbing brush and bleach, to no avail. The bath is cast iron I think - it's definitely not plastic. Any ideas on what may shift this marking - as I say, it looks like...

Where do I measure for replacement glass double glazing unit

Thanks that's really helpful. Do you know how I would remove the 'snap in" angled securing members? Would I use a screwdriver to ease it out? Many thanks Terri

Where do I measure for replacement glass double glazing unit

Hi I've bought a house and a couple of the double glazing units need replacing. They are still mounted in the pvc window frame - how do I measure for replacements. Also is it just the width/length I need or do I need thickness. Many thanks Terri

Painting - Old fashioned method V One Coat !

Hi, spoke to my dad on the trade paint and he said yep no problem. He's retired now but still does the odd bit, he told me of a story recently when he bought a massive 25 litre drum/tub of magnolia - and he got it for £10. Think this must have been a one off though. Thanks for all your...

    Replacement Glass. Decent quality glass?

That is a good way of describing the glass. Yes it definitely looks ripley. The windows that I have got are all decent - I just don't want to end up with the 'rippley' look. Any ideas how to avoid it pls?

Painting - Old fashioned method V One Coat !

Hi there I've just bought a house that needs doing up. My dad is a fantastic decorator and his opinion is that you always do all the rubbing down filling etc. Then a good quality under coat followed by a quality gloss. He also prefers the longer drying stuff (16 hours I think). I...

    Preparing Floor for Tiling

Hello I'd like to have a go at tiling a kitchen floor. Sorry but I'm going to ask all sorts of odd questions because I'm a blonde female! My aim is to tile the floor then have a go at putting in a kitchen from a DIY store. How do I prepare the floor. I think it is floorboards at the...

Matching up tiles for the roof

Hello I've just bought a house and it has a few tiles missing. I live in Kent - not too far from Dartford Bridge. Does anyone know of a place that I can go to try and match up missing tiles. Even reclaimed tiles would probably be good as I guess the original tiles are fairly old. Many...

    Replacement Glass. Decent quality glass?

Hi there I've got to replace a few units of double glazing as they are damaged. I don't want to buy units that are not of same quality. I've seen double glazing which has a horrible reflection a bit like a a bowed glass. Sorry if I'm not making sense. Basically, I'd like to put in...

Water Pouring out the back of washing machine pipe

Yes - it is one of those things. I don't think the pipe is blocked as the dishwasher runs through it fine. Also, I did try the caustic soda, I poured it down the pipe after I removed that t joint thing and it went straight out into the drain. Any other ideas? Many thanks Terri

Water Pouring out the back of washing machine pipe

Hi, I'm new to this site and I'm desparate for advice. Machine working fine - when emptying out the water, the T connector pipe (washing machine and dishwasher both empty out of this connector pipe) is spurting the water out of the hole in the top of the connector. I've tried all this...
