    Sharan / Alhambra sliding door

Fixed. Trim needed a lot of force to remove, nothing more. Although I thought I might break it! From inspecting both sides without the trim I found there is a small spring that pulls the catch into the correct position. This had somehow got into the wrong place and needed levering back into...

    Sharan / Alhambra sliding door

Hi This is the picture of the running gear. Often the catch doesn't open with the door handle which means the door won't stay open. Any ideas on the cause? I have oiled everything but that doesnt help. I figured the next step is to remove the trim but I can't. Any ideas how to remove it? There...

    32A Industrial socket for cooker?

I would terminate the cooker circuit in a junction box using these Wago connectors. Then when you need to swap between mixer and cooker you isolate the circuit at the CU and swap. https://www.toolstation.com/wago-221-3-way-compact-lever-connectors/p46660 If you're going to be doing this...

    32A Industrial socket for cooker?

That's a three phase mixer so won't work unless your house has a three phase (industrial) electrical supply. Even if you did have this, your comment that your cable is twin and earth means you couldn't use the cooker circuit.

    Simple enough question but....,

You could presumably use a time delay RCD in the CU for that circuit which would allow the shed RCD to trip first?

    32A Industrial socket for cooker?

@EFLImpudence Seems simple enough to understand to me. He has a direct connection (cooker plate or JB) and wants to swap for a blue 32A plug and socket. @DIYbot2 no idea on the legality, although I believe in domestic settings you have to use an interlocked or shuttered socket, but have you...

Installing a heavy chandelier with a Y shaped bracket

I would fit a piece of plywood between the joists. Then the bracket can screw into it. To fix the plywood I would cut it to just fit between the joists. Then I would screw through some scrap wood or batten to both the ply plate and the joist.

    Skirting Removal and Refitting

Yes, or cut the length in two pieces so that one of the joins us behind a radiator pipe so not visible.

    Solar Panels and Pigeons

If you can get onto the roof, use this mesh: https://www.birdcontrol.uk.com/shop/product/solar-panel-mesh-12-5mm-x-25mm-18-gauge-weldmesh/?utm_source=Google+Shopping&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=AP+Feed

    Stopcock in airing cupboard?

I would concentrate on finding the outside stop tap as the water board will fix that for free if it's not working.

PV power back from Garden Room to feed immersion heater

Seems technically possible, my iboost has two outputs for two immersions. You can get stickers that warn of needing to isolate at multiple points, I would want to make it really clear to someone who didn't know the house.

Solar inverter on dual RCD board

If you can find a reg then I can call back the company (y) Any advice on moving the MCB to the non load side as above?

Solar inverter on dual RCD board

Hi I have a modern (steel) dual RCD board. My solar inverter is on a dedicated circuit with a B20 MCB on one of the two RCD segments. Am I right in thinking this is bad practice as it means the RCD tripping won't prevent current flow to the circuits fed by that RCD for the three second...

    Bay curtain poles

We prefer the look of poles but tbh track seems like the more practical option. Just need to find a decent quality metal one that I can bend at home. I don't like the pvc stuff.

    17mm draw runners

Pulling down on the drawers as they open them. The pressed metal runners spread and the bearings fall out.

    17mm draw runners

Thanks @JobAndKnock . These are the runners, cheap contract jobs. I can't seem to find any good quality ones in this type. https://tradefit.uk/products/groove-17mm-2-way-runner-ball-bearing-mini-slide-max-10kg-246mm?variant=45956583948519&campaignid=19659460453&adgroupid=&network=x&device=m

    Bay curtain poles

Looking at bay curtain poles there seem to be two main types of joint for the bends. One has a set of slots cut in the joint to create a swept bend but I don't think will look particularly good because of the visible cuts. The other uses a bolted knuckle joint. Any experience please or how the...

    Door insulation boards...?

I've double glazed panels in wooden doors before. Easy. Measure the opening, subtract 5mm and get 12mm units made up (the thinnest double glazing you can get). When you have the units, carefully lever out the beads, put in the new units on a bed of clear glazing (neutral cure) silicone. I've...
