    Ford Galaxy Front Brakes

I don't think that the information given by the mechanic is correct, you have dangerous car, it's probably a faulty servo. You should be able to get at least 4 pedal applications before you run out of vacuum. regards johnwr

Peugeot 1.9D Non Turbo Timing Belt

I think neo has got it wrong, the tensioner he is talking about is used on the 2.1TD. You need to use the tool in to the flywheel behind the starter, other than that it's just bolts to lock the injection pump and the camshaft. The belt tensioner depends on the engine code. I hope this helps...

help with cv boot & headlights

They are F---ing crap and complete waste of time and money and used by bodgers. It's much easier in the long run to buy a good quality CV boot kit and do the job just once, it's cheaper in the long run to fit the correct cv boot than to fit some cr-p overgrown condom that will only last a few...

    volvo brakes

I used to work as a road test technician for a large brake lining manufacturer and we supplied Volvo with a fair proportion of their brake liners for their truck range and I don't think they were any sharper than volvo's competitors vehicles. It may be different on their car range, but this...

Astra brake drum removal / general braking problem

jimbob, if you read my last posting, this is the easiest method of gaining enough clearance to remove a grooved drum. I think your "master tech mechanic" what ever that means is going to do more damage to the adjuster mechanism trying to back off the adjusters through the wheel bolt holes. To...

Astra brake drum removal / general braking problem

Your right about the rubber plug in the back plate, remove the plug and use a screwdriver to press on the end of the handbrake lever and this will you more clearance between drum and shoes then the drum should come off fairly easily. regards johnwr

Astra rear brakes, routine replacement = rubbing + squeek

Hello kaytay, If I were you I would refit the old shoes and drums, but this time manually adjust the brakes, I know it is difficult with worn drums, but relying on the auto adjuster you will lucky to get the adjustment very close to the drum. If this works then you should try refitting the new...

    placing jack or axel stands

I agree with neo, but be carefull with the corsa that you don't jackup on the wishbone it's self. Use the 'u' shaped chassis rail behind the wishbone. With retgards to the P306 jack under the subframe it's self. regards johnwr
