    Unbelievable.

Two instances that spring to mind when I read this thread... No.1 In my own house I always seemed to hear a trickle of water when the sink in the downstairs toilet was used. When re doing the floor I lifted the boards and found that the waste pipe off the sink was cracked. Directly under...

    f***ing Ideal!!!

Remember going to a very new town house on Christmas Eve last year and telling the customer I would order parts for his leaking isar and leave him cold over Christmas. It was under a year old. Drove past a couple of weeks ago and saw 2 BG install vans on the drive. Had a job to go there...

Repairs To Boiler - Being taken for a ride by corgi reg comp

Just read this is an RD350 This is a BG Ideal Classic...... Most of us see the Classic as a straight forward good boiler. The RD350 could not be worse. An Ideal tech told me that BG and Ideal got together to make this. BG wanted a modem socket so that the boiler could call BG when it went...

Repairs To Boiler - Being taken for a ride by corgi reg comp

I can definitely confirm that you have been taken for a ride...... Can't comment 100% as you don't give details of the boiler. But reading into your post...... 26/08/08 called to attend as no hot water – fault found to be PCB on boiler, new to be ordered and installed - As you...

Help with central heating problem from a chilly Edinburgh

Hootsmun, Are your radiators heating sufficiently? From your first post I suspected a circulation problem. Having a system without room thermostats will work but will not be a efficient as with room stats. The building regs quoted are about efficiency.

    boiler gas leak

This is a part that I carry on the van as I see a lot of these boilers Probably depends upon the engineers workload. Definitely a part that is readily available.

    boiler gas leak

May be relevant..... Recently went to a similar job, apparent smell of gas outside when boiler off. Boiler was a combi but had a perm pilot. Transco had turned off the appliance supply and written gas valve on their paperwork. I relit the appliance and tested everything I could...

    Baxi Solo 2 starting problem

Not 100% with this boiler.... Does the power for fan com via the air pressure switch. Never quite sure about normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC). Doesn't 240 come from the PCB to common on the APS to start the fan via NC then the fan running correctly moves the APS to NO...

Ecomax 824E - Replace Primary HE - can I DIY?

I assume you have some sort of homecare contract with BG? if so I would ask them to change the pump under contract before you spend the £600. Cheaper option would be to flush the H/E. I spoke to an engineer locally to me who has the attachments to fix a powerflush machine directly in place...

    fitting new pressure relief valve

No, As Seco says, just drain the the heating side. Turn the boiler off, probably worth making sure it is cold/cool. Isolate the electrics, just in case. Let off the system pressure via the faulty PRV Unscrew the plastic part of the PRV from the metal body. Probably no need to remove...

    Problem with Citroen Berlingo Multispace

Hope someone can shed some light on the fault here. Just tried to start my car. Put the key in the ignition and turned on and the hazard lights started to flash? Thought thats odd and turned them off. Went to start the engine and although the starter motor turned over the engine would not...

    BG Interview help please

Paul, If you are based in East Lothian then you are probably going for the interview at their Glasgow Training Academy? My advise would be, dress smart, take any certificates about your qualifications etc, even school stuff. They are as interested in your communication skills as any...

    potterton puma 80 combi

Easyflow Regular fault on these is the auto air vent leaking and the water dripping onto the gas valve which then blows the board. New GV has been altered to prevent this happening. Is the GV the problem now that the fuse on the board has been replaced? Just thoughts Simon

    Air Locked Tap

Any Help???? This has foxed me, but maybe there is a simple explanation out there? Went to a job concerning a HW tap on a bath/shower mixer. The hot tap ran and then ran out of water. Air lock I thought....... simple. Except that the boiler is a combi. So mains pressure. Boiler is a...
