Hi all, I have just bought a side by side fridge/freezer. (Samsung RSA1WTMH). Does anyone know if the handles or doors are removable for getting through a standard size PVC door ??? The door will take a 690mm wide object, but the fridge is over this, when including the handles !!! I...

Hi, Probably been asked a thousand times, so my apologies for being a lazy bstard !!!!! I have searched.....honestly. I have just dry lined my kitchen, using paper joints and easy fill. Can I paint directly onto the plasterboards/filler, or do I need to PVA it all first. Muchos gracias.

    Underfloor heating stat wiring

Thanks again. As far as the info reads, this is purely a resistance check on the cable prior to and after the installation ?? I can manage that no problem. I am 16th ed trained, but I am in comms, not electrical installation !!!! Thanks for all your help. As for the council :wink...

    i want a log fire...and i want it NOW!

I'm with Goldspoon, definitely doesn't sound like a job for DIY, even installing a log burner has building regs to be aware of !!! Let alone the plumbing side of it !! I would employ a pro for this. For a start, you cannot remove the old gas fire yourself.

    Underfloor heating stat wiring

Thanks for the advise Flameport. lets just say, purely hypethetically speaking, that I connected it myself, feeling all electrically competent and all, then where would I take the supply for the stat from ?

Removal and refit of gas hob

Hi Can anyone give me a ballpark figure for the removal and refitting of a replacement gas hob, assuming I do all the donkey work (cut out worktop, etc). The new hob will be fitted in a slightly different spot about 18" along the supply pipe, if that makes sense !!! (needing shortening as...

    Underfloor heating stat wiring

Hi I am about to install some underfloor heating. I have installed an RCD/FCU for the underfloor cable supply. Does the stat need a seperate supply or can I take it from the same RCD (via a jnc box) ?? I havn't actually bought the kit yet, but most of them say the stat is 16A rated. I...

Hi Tim, Doesn't sound like a DIY job to mess about with back boilers etc !!!! Visit your local heating/stove shop, they will give you excellent advise on the type of log burner compared with size of house, amount of rads etc, etc. I have heard they are a great heating source !!! Logs...

Thanks guys, I managed to work it out in the end !!!! I need some bespoke ones as the height on mine is only 770mm, due to a low ceiling height at the wall (sloping roof). Been quoted today £700 inc VAT for supply of the following :- 1200 (w) X 770 top opener window 900 X 770 top...

    Underfloor heating supply

    Underfloor heating supply

Now you've got me worried !! As you can guess I am not a sparky. Why would this be dangerous ? I guess if it was to take a full 50A ?? is that what you mean ? That the cable would heat up and a 50A mcb suggests the circuit is good for that rating, which it isn't ? What rating MCB would...

    Underfloor heating supply

Thanks Flameport, I think I will take a spur from the sockets. I thought the cooker circuit was OK, shouldn't it be 45A rated at the socket outlet ? It is on 6mm cable. The radials ar also on 6mm !!! Nothing like being safe !!! I could easily convert the two radials to a 1 Ring, would...

Hi, I am in the process of doing up my kitchen and as above want to install under tile heating. Approx 3.5M squared, 130W per M squared. The house is a 30's semi and the kitchen has 3 circuits !! ( I think it has been a conversion of outhouses previously ). The circuits are 2 x radial...
