Did my builder do my roof incorrectly?

We recently had some work done on our roof, replacing some rafters and lats as well as installing a waterproofmembrane. The photo shows the finished roof, there's so much cement up on the ridges and it looks nothing like any other roofs around or how ours previously looked. (Photo attached) We...

    Screws for fencing

Thanks. The wall circa early 1900's lime mortar has been completely rebuilt and now has footings. Looks are important so it has to be posts rather than brackets. Given the surroundings I don't expect much wind stress.

freestanding hob with more than 2 rings?

Thanks. I didn't know I needed ceramic until I tested my old but very expensive stainless and found only the recent additions had a ferrous base. Gives me something to consider.

freestanding hob with more than 2 rings?

Absolute bargains. Unfortunately I'm going to have to go ceramic rather than induction due to the number of non ferrous pans we have:cry:

freestanding hob with more than 2 rings?

Is there such a thing as a freestanding hob with 4 rings/elements? Turning off the Aga for the summer and would like more than 2 rings which seems to be the norm. It will have to sit on the granite worktop as I'm not cutting it. Could I make/have made a frame for a built-in hob to sit in if a 4...

Shower mixer affecting bath hot water temperature

Worcester Bosch Greenstar junior 28i All other outlets ok. The hot in the washbasin gets very hot once it gets going compared to the bath no doubt due to the flow rate. Nevertheless, the temp of the hot on the bath is affected by the position of the thermostatic valve on the separate shower when...

Shower mixer affecting bath hot water temperature

Property is 1920's. The shower and mixer is totally separate from the bath. It was only by chance we found playing with the shower mixer thermostat with no flow through the shower affected the hot water temperature when running the bath.

Shower mixer affecting bath hot water temperature

Bathroom was new installation 18 months ago with a separate Crosswater shower unit with thermostatic mixer and a separate bath running off a combi boiler. The shower was taking longer to heat up. Had the boiler checked out and the engineer said it will take longer as it's cold in winter...

    Toilet seat cracked

I have a Brookpad 1300RS smart bidet and there are a few cracks in the seat, probably due to it being heated. Seems to be obsolete and the only resellers are based in Poland. What's the best way to tackle the cracks in situ as the seat can't be removed? Don't really want to spend £370+ on a...

    Leaking concrete watertank

My boy has a 6mx2mx2m outdoor concrete water tank that's probably 50 years old and there is slight leakage in a couple of spots on one outside wall. Drained the tank and there's some signs of the concrete deteriorating where the water is leaking. What's the best waterproofing product to use for...

    Concrete in the fireplace corners

Opening up the fireplace after removing the cast iron insert and find a rounded lump of extremely hard concrete in each of the back corners. Suspect the insert wasn't original (house is 1906) due to the mortar and rubble that was behind it which came out very easily with an SDS. Did these lumps...

    Old style light pull replacement

My old style WC light pull has been tugged too often! The old switch/isolator seems to be a lighting circuit loop in and out with a pair of reds and a pair of blacks at the top and a single red and black off the load going to the ceiling rose (effectively 3 x T&E but actually 1 T&E, 2 single...

    Dual flush overflowing

It's a SIAMP Trueflow cistern and a flavour of SIAMP fill valves, most likely a Compact 99B. Changing the whole valve has to be the last option due to access to the bottom of the cistern. Do these valves dis-assemble ?

    Dual flush overflowing

After flushing the water the cistern continues to fill at full bore and chucks it down the overflow (middle of the flush valve) ... so must be an issue with the fill valve. When filling, the float lifts as the water comes in but doesn't shut off the water and the level rises above the float and...
