To Combi or not to Combi?

ok to add a little more, you could find out if you can still get parts for your current boiler, older boilers tend to be more simple inside, some only having a few parts. Combi's have there place, but if your system is working well then why change it. The reason combi's are common is a lot...

if it ain't broke don't fix it!!!!!! your system can be fixed with over the counter parts from major diy stores on a weekend, ok your boiler is a different story, do you have a working immersion heater? even better if you do!!!! if the boiler breaks down you can still have hot water...

Descaling heat exchanger plate on an Ideal Response Combi

spirts of salt will do the job, it is pretty strong stuff and you will need to flush with plenty of water after. It could at the very worst kill the plate to plate but it has not happened to me yet ( fingers crossed )

Vaillant TurboMax. Tripping, smelt burning, now no power.

I would be disconnecting everything from the pcb and testing that on it's own. If the fuse on the board does not blow then I would test the components that connect to it, starting at something obvious like the pump. You will need to replace the fuse on the board first, gas engineer is what...

Sime Friendly balanced flue won't fire

have you actually tested the flow switch? if am correct the sime has 2 boards next to one another. If the flow switch is proving I would check that the board on the left hand side as you look at the boiler is sending power to the ignition board on the right hand side
