Repressurising Expansion vessel in Main Combi 30 eco

My system has needed refilling every 2-3 months during the summer, every month during the Winter. As Heating now being used I decided to try to sort problem once and for all. I turned power off and drained system down to reduce pressure to '0'. Connected electric pump and pressurised to about...

Can I replace the filling loop part

Also the only air pump I have is a car tyre pump (Battery) which works well but not sure how accurate the meter is. Is there any harm in pressurising up past the 14.5psi (Say to 20-25psi) then dropping the pressure to 14.5 (1bar)?

Can I replace the filling loop part

Duh EXV I meant. Yep Expansion Vessel. Already replaced PRV but my plan was to be sure I had located the actual problem and then re-replace the prv when I fill with Anti Corrosion, or I could be going thru a few PRV's till I locate the problem. Does that make sense to do that?

Can I replace the filling loop part

Sounds like the logical answer. That has failed following another problem and that is one of raising pressure and blasting water past the PRV. Is a sticking loop (Fixed) likely to cause a raise in pressure and cause the system to need pressurising? I am waiting delivery of a decent pressure...

Can I replace the filling loop part

Thanks. Does that stay attached or do I pressurise and remove?

Can I replace the filling loop part

The fixed filling loop to my Main Eco 30 Combi wont let me fill the system. It is not opening and I suspect the non return valve. Can i successful just replace the valve itself rather than the whole fitting, as it seems pointless replacing the other 80% that is good. From a couple of on-line...

VERY LO-NG Story - Main Combi heating System. Help needed!

Turned system off and released pressure on outside drain cock. pressure was zero when I re-pressurised. No air came out of the schrader valve. Pressure remained fine for approx 2 weeks. Should I have repressurised THEN check for air in the Expansion Vessel before depressurising?

I already re-pressured to approx 1 bar and that didn't work so would you advise external or OE as a replacement?

VERY LO-NG Story - Main Combi heating System. Help needed!

Hi Gigz. the PRV wasn't leaking as such but did release water before I changed it. I would guess that there was actually nothing wrong with it.

VERY LO-NG Story - Main Combi heating System. Help needed!

So begins my sad saga. Like most of us, I like a problem and the satisfaction of solving it and felt capable of doing so as I have had some plumbing experience (Pre Corgi) and have, in fact fitted a complete system around 20 yrs ago (Tho my mate, Bill the Plumber did the final checks) Here...

Main ECO 30 Auto Vent Valve

Hi all. The vent valve on top of my 9 yr old Main 30 ECO combi is pretty cruddy and lets only a tiny amount of water past the plastic screw at top - no air at all. I needed to re-pressurise my system 4 times yesterday and i have noticed considerable dripping from outside plastic pipe. Is the...

    Replacing Whole Sewer pipe

Firstly the sewer pipe is entirely on my property. Having purchased the pipe and collars to do a quick fix I noticed (Dunno why I didn't see before) that it is not clay pipe but the dreaded Pitch Fibre. It is approx 60 yrs old so I feel that it should be removed completely and replaced...

    Replacing Whole Sewer pipe

Hi all. I have two inspection chambers and between the two (Approx 5Mtrs) a tree root seems to have broken in causing a blockage every 4-6Mths. As I fear this is likely to get worse, not better, my plan is to replace ALL of the pipework between the two chambers with one continuous length...

Plastering a bare wall? Do I need a new plasterer?

Thanks for that. I have had some bad experiences with poor & untrustworthy (but cheap) plasterers in the past but this chap is around the same price as others. I'll just let him do what he knows to do then. :) AND I'd best get some longer screws for the kitchen wall units, too.
