Lead slate for a low pitched roof

Hello All, Our new extension has a 17.5˚ monopitch roof with Mini Stonewolds. We need to run a soil stack and a 68mm RWDP through it. The lowest pitch lead slate I can find is 35˚. Is it acceptable to use a flat roof slate or is there another solution? Thanks, J

Neighbour causing flooding to my property

Thanks folks. Just checked the planning and there has been none either applied for or granted. I'll speak to the council tomorrow. The company who did the work are known to be of traveller descent and the work is falling apart in other places too.

Neighbour causing flooding to my property

Hi, We have recently moved into a link-detached house. The survey picked up a number of things but didn't find this problem as it was carried out in the dry spell. The street is on a shallow hill meaning each house is slightly higher than it's neighbour. Each house has a driveway to the...

    macerator problems

Hi, I have fitted a macerator in our new en suite. I have followed the manufacturers instructions but it still isn't working properly. It is a combi type with the shower, basin and toilet all connected to it. If the basin is used it raises the height of the water in the toilet. The...

plastering after wooden floor is laid?

Hello All, I have a solid oak floor, 18mm thick. It's been down a while now without issue. However, we now need to have 2 walls re-plastered. I remember reading in the instructions for the flooring that all 'wet trades' should be finished on site and everything should be left for a while...

    Tiling wooden floor

Hello, We are replacing our kitchen soon. We'd like to tile the floor and have floor boards at the moment. I know we would be best covering the floor in ply before tiling. This obviously raises the floor height too. Is it ok to tile on to chipboard flooring? If so I will just replace the...

    Partial removal of chimney

Hello All, We'd like to remove the chimney from our house. It is a single storey bungalow and the chimney is central to the house. Only used for one room. We'd like to remove it to free up space in the living area. There was a back boiler and fire in it but these have been replaced with a...

    Shower trims?

Hello All, I have retiled a shower enclosure which obviously meant I had to remove the old tiles first. I also removed the exposed shower valve so I could get a better finish. The valve had a chrome, plastic collar/washer trim around the hot and cold feed to hide the hole in the tile...

Skip hire company taking the p**s

Hello all, I hired an 8yrd skip from a local company over 2 weeks ago. I knocked down an old brick outhouse and filled the skip within 2 days. I gave the company a call to ask for collection. They said it would be done the next day. Nothing happened. It's now been over 2 weeks since I first...
