Could heating systems be improved with this idea?

I've got stats in each room on a 2-wire network linked to a manifold with actuators for each rad, all controlled by a tablet pc and bespoke written java progam.

    Gas training courses

I for one would be quite happy for the assessments to be more rigorous - fail more people- then the people who do get through are the ones capable of doing the job to the required standard and should not have to be reassessed in full every 5 years. Maybe a one day course/assessment on anything...

    Gas meters

There are people who post on herre who have taken meter jobs in london, if you post this in the combustion chamber you will more likely get an answer. I did 3 weeks for a company in portsmouth , it was a pain in the rear , jobs all over the place, couldn't get in to half them and I also had to...

    central heating

Power to the boiler is fed through prog-stat-mv - there is a fault somewhere that is still feeding power on CH. Most likely stuck microswitch on the MV

    PLASTIC CENTRAL HEATING

Speedfit- have never had a problem with either the fittings( just check the correct seals are in ) or the pipe. Would't use it where its going to be on view though. Quite happy using copper throughout if custard wants -I think theres a bit of inverted snobbery here.

    Is this allowed?

Please post a link to where you can easily find a WB boiler with flue and programmer etc incl VAT for £750. I'll have 10. Also as far as the boiler goes - you are not even legally allowed to unpack the thing,  But to blunt would I go and commission a boiler already on the wall...

    One for the Corgis

When doing a TT you are measuring static pressure. AS the governor gives a constant pressure at the entry to the "closed system" Boyles shows that the meter will always measure the same quantity of gas(at a constant temp). As someon earlier said changing temperature will either give you less...

losing jobs by doing the right thing

At rates like that I wouldn't hesitate to go work in the US if I was single, as it is with a family and kids it is a no goer at the moment.*sigh*However it has been on the agenda to move there when the kids are ready to go to Uni, since we now have to pay over here for them to go I thought it...

    Surface prep or not?

Hi am converting garage. It was built on the side of the house so one wall is part brick and part render whereas the others are all block. Anyway have plasterboarded over the 3 new walls but am unsure of how to tackle the old house wall. Basically it is brick for a couple of foot up from...

    pipework- meter to boiler

On the other hand if you mark it yellow you are making it more prominent and more likely that some yob wll come along and nick it. Could use denzo tape to give it some protection though.

using a payment company if you're self employed?

Not a good idea. Liability ins round about £300 for 2 mill. Try trades direct - they give you some free tool insurance as well.

Registering a company- what is the cheapest and easiest way?

I think the VAT threshold is now £67,000. I seriously doubt you will turnover that doing meters mate. Also its not really worth registering to reclaim just for things you will purchase - what a vehicle and petrol/diesel(since on meter contracts the few materials you use are generally supplied to...

    Heating Design

As has been said by others there really is no need to over complicate your system as it will lead to extra cost in materials and upkeep and little to no saving in fuel. How ever if you must do it you can actually get a manifold that can be wired up to close individual circuits, and...

Registering a company- what is the cheapest and easiest way?

You will be taxed under the subcontractors scheme at 20 % whether you do it as self employed or as ltd co. Don't know why you are going to VAT register though? And is that meters as in gas or electric?
