    Not trying to put you off BUT- I did 3 weeks of this in Portsmouth on £17.50 a meter and more if it was out of hours. The snag was are the people always going to be in? No Will the meters all be in the same street, block of flats etc? Depends on how well in with the central office staff...

    Close coupled cistern-donut washer, drip problem ...

    I would suggest that the problem isn't your donut washer but is at the base of the siphon, check that it was correctly fitted and isn't catching on the screw/metal washer/cone rubber washer that connects the cistern to the pan, this vould casue the siphon seal to leak .

    Yes it is ok, whether it is better to fit copper depends on taste outlook or where the pipe is coming from.

    For the cost of a new basin is it really worth however many hours you have spent and are going to spend while maybe eventually breaking the basin anyway? Either get a new one or get a proper basin wrench.

    Get yourself over to grc.com and buy a copy of Spinrite.....this utility fixes most harddrives and can be used once a month to avoid having fatal problems crop up. Really is good and works in most cases.

    thanks for the replies guys, for what it will cost me for the 8 week run its worth a go, I got a mate who does removals and handyman stuff and gets a lot of work from it. I know a few other gas guys in the area who don't advertise in though, so I'll see.

    Yes, it is. At last if you reassemble the boiler you will have heating. Hot water can be obtained from other sources, you can survuve a few days without it direct from the boiler. Its one reason I always have an electric shower installed as well.
