    Eu power regulations

Does anyone know if this law will affect commercial vacuum cleaners?

    Home-made concrete brick specials

I'm enthusiastic DIY-er. There isn't much I won't do. I've an office job which pays the bills and let's me DIY. I'd love to do something practical for a living, only, I don't fancy the drop in salary as to switch career I'd have to start from the bottom.

    Airing Cupboard

Another option is to use a dehumidifier in there, if you have power in there that is. Easier than knocking holes in walls for ventilation

    Home-made concrete brick specials

I didn't use a release agent. What I did do was varnish the wood before hand and seal the gaps between the wood with silicone sealant. According to the planning portal my shed is not covered by building regs so I intend to fit the stove myself. I've had an open fireplace and a stove fitted...

    Home-made concrete brick specials

Sure! The project is well under way. I also did something similar for the window sills because I didn't want the plain flat sills you buy in the shops. I made a box from wood, lined it with some architrave and filled it up with yellow concrete for a sandstone look. I'm quite pleased with...

    Home-made concrete brick specials

Hello, I'm building something of an extravagant shed at the moment. Somehow I managed to get planning permission to build a shed with a pitched roof, 2 dormer windows and a brick chimney stack. I quite fancied a row of brick specials to dress my block work (along with stucco and stone)...

External Stucco / Cement render decorations - Any Advice?

Thanks Micilin, Yes, that's exactly the direction I'd like to go. I wouldn't be opposed to polystyrene with a fleck texture only I haven't found many websites which sell them in the UK and the ones which are about seem to be expensive. When you say to form quoins with timber I assume...

External Stucco / Cement render decorations - Any Advice?

Yes! You're quite right. It is going to be needlessly over the top for a shed. I love traditional architecture and I love woodwork. I thought I would combine the two and build a beautiful shed. I'll be doing all the work myself so I'll only be paying for the materials.

Planning permission for big shed on boundary,is there hope?

Ah, that's interesting. My shed would be south facing so most of the shadow from my shed would fall on the back of the concrete behemoth that my neighbour at the end of the garden has built. Thanks, that could be a useful point.

Planning permission for big shed on boundary,is there hope?

Hello, I know you can build up to 2.5m near a boundary wall but I want to build a shed slightly bigger. I'd like to build a 4m shed with a pitched roof and 2.5m to the eaves. I intend to use it for woodwork/hobbies. I know I could build a shed like this 2m away from the edge of my garden...

Garden shed base - lay concrete directly on the grass?

Even the Romans had concrete and the first battery was invented by Volta in 1800. :D

    Posting letters

I found a letter on the floor once. I posted it. I think most decent people would. Especially more so these days as most people wouldn't post a letter unless it was particularly important.

External Stucco / Cement render decorations - Any Advice?

Hello, Later this year I'm going to be building a shed with concrete blocks. To make it a bit prettier I thought I would cover the external walls with cement render (Stucco?) and put some extra features on. For example, quoins on the corners and for the windows I quite fancied a raised...

Building a shed below ground level

Yes, a couple of people have suggested building a retaining wall around the base of the shed so there is an air gap around all the walls to prevent damp. I'm concerned though of the implications of having a trench around my shed that might become a moat after heavy rainfall. My whole...
