    Tiling on damp plaster

Skimming the walls is going to reduce your load bearing capacity for starters. And bear in mind that if your tiles fall off you won't be covered as BS is at least 3 or 4 weeks drying time whether it's a 1mm skim or not.

Question re cutting large rough surface floor tiles

It should, in theory, do so. Might be worth testing this on a tile prior to the job but you will probably need to get a new wheel. If that still doesn't work then buying a cheap electric cutter might be easier than struggling with an angle grinder. They cost around £40 for a basic one.

Preparing tiled floor for over laying with vinyl

I doubt it. SLC would be much better as no screwing or SBR on the back and sides

    Taking up a stone floor

Think you might have some fun and games with the removal and keeping the marble in one piece might be a long shot. Could you cut out the pointing/grout and pry each tile up that way?

Black/red victorian floor tile - source and backer (with pics)

I think encaustic is the right field but wrong game. There are some great looking vinyl options but I have never had a good experience with Vinyl personally. Price is a plus though. If you go with the tiles that Lee suggested then k think you will be onto a winner for the price.

Where to get fancy tiles from?

All I have to say is there is a reason the sheds are cheap and tile only retailers, expensive in comparison.

    Damp retaining wall.

Adding cement to an already wet substrate isn't the best idea in the world in my opinion as it's just another layer that could fail.

    Leaking grout

For starters, if it was cheap waterproof grout then it probably wasn't very waterproof (experience talking). Secondly, are there any cracks in the joints? Even waterproof grout still ingresses moisture which can leak through to the solid adhesive bed which is usually the end of the problem...

Bathroom tile coming off on suspended floor

Get a tiler in to take a look at it. And I mean a decent tiler from sub-prep to the last bead of silicone kind of tiler. Just because a portfolio shows some decent aesthetics, doesn't mean that they can do a long lasting job. But at least it sounds like he tried to make the subfloor good.

Bathroom tile coming off on suspended floor

Should of got a good tiler rather than a great builder ;) I think you might be better off ripping up the floor and having it relaid properly if he's only used Ditra matting as it will all go at some point.
