    25' deck

I guess the best way to go is then construct 4 frames each 12' by 12' and then bolt them all together to give me a 24' by 24' deck. With regards my joists - i am using 6" X 2". I was originally intending to have them placed at 18" centres. Is this overkill with regards structural strength or...

    25' deck

Quick question. I am about to lay a deck using 6" X 2" joists for the frame sitting on equally spaced paving stones to give it a solid level base. The size of the deck is roughly 25' X 23' and the joists are 16' in length. Can anyone give me pointers as to the best way to construct the...

I have a utility room which i am wanting to put my washing machine and tumble drier into. I have recently got a new kitchen and have an end panel and some worktop left over. What I am hoping to do is have a piece of worktop the width of the washing machine and an end panel fitted and slide the...

    radiator extension tube

Youve hit the nail on the head. so the fitting i have would have a 3/4 " nut go over the end which attaches to the rad valve, but in my case this would not work cause my nuts are 1/2" - don't laugh. so the bottom line is i have an extension suitable for a 3/4" rad valve.

    radiator extension tube

sorry Chris - i put in the wrong link.. doh. The correct picture is the first one. Although the part I have is variable from 20mm to 40mm. The section that goes into the rad can be tightened from the other end using an allen key and then the outer sleeve slides out to extend the tube.

    radiator extension tube

The existing valve rad valve on my pipe work has no nut and a male thread. The current rad valve has a male thread which goes into the radiator and the other end has a compression fitting and the nut attaches to the male thread on the valve. If i remove the existing rad valve and screw in the...

    radiator extension tube

It sounds like you guys are talking about an extension tube that has one male end thread and one female end. The tube i have, on the end with the rubber seal the seal sits in a groove at the very end of the tube and has no threads that would allow it to be threaded into the rad. The other...

    radiator extension tube

I have a 47 " single panel radiator to be installed and my problem is that it was a 49" radiator there previously and the pipesfeeding the radiator are bedded in concrete. I was planning to get a couple of radiator extension tubes and fitting them to save any hassle. On looking at these...

What about if I am using PVC pipe rather than copper, do i still need to lag the 15mm pipe to the radiator and do i still need a minimum 1" clearance.

    laying pipework

with the existing layout and the way i intend to go the only way is to have a section of pipe under the concrete floor. With this in mind how deep should i dig up the concrete for: A) the 28mm insulated 22mm pipe running from the boiler and B) the 15mm pipe running to the new rad...

    single skinned wall

So far all the help has been excellent. Just one last question... The ceiling is pitched at the same angle as the roof rather than a level ceiling. What is the best way to secure the header of the wall frame in place? Should I cut the 4" X 2" at an angle in order to attach it to the rafter...
