IP65 & fire rated downlight allowing easy bulb replaceme

Hiya yep, I'm pretty sure. I've uploaded a bad picture here if it helps. There doesn't seem to be a way to remove the glass to get at the lamp (not bulb, sorry!) and the main metal surround is held in place by the clips the other side of the ceiling. Unclipping those even from above seems to...

IP65 & fire rated downlight allowing easy bulb replaceme

Thanks both. We have Megaman 11w CFL GU10s in there currently. They do take a minute or so to warm up but other than that we're pretty happy with the quality and quantity of light. It's just the fittings that are a bit of a pain, probably exacerbated a little by the size of the Megaman bulbs...

IP65 & fire rated downlight allowing easy bulb replaceme

Hi there, Our current bathroom downlight fittings are really fiddly when it comes to replacing bulbs. I think they are the cheap, B&Q type. You have to go up in the loft, ferret about in the insulation and the fittings always seem to become slightly dislodged. It's made all the harder by the...

    Bricking up a fire place...

Hi Joe, I used an infrared thermometer to measure the temperature of the bedroom wall at various points. It measured consistently a degree or two cooler on the parts of the wall where the chimney ran behind. So I am assuming that the cold air in the disused flue is drawing heat out of that...

    Bricking up a fire place...

Thanks again, presumably that's just for the old opening in the lounge though? Would there be anything that could be done about further up the flue? We seem to lose a fair amount of heat through the bedroom wall where the flue runs behind.

    Bricking up a fire place...

Thanks for that, yes we are detached so it should be doable. My only worry would be that the colder air passing through the flue would increase heatloss through the lounge and bedroom walls. If we wanted to totally decommission the flue can one fill it somehow? Presumably that would remove...

    Bricking up a fire place...

I've done some reading on here about this, there are several threads on this I know. But one thing is confusing me a bit... I know that when you brick up a fireplace you must install a vent to the new wall to prevent sweating, my question though is does this vent have to be on the inside of...

Any ideas? Drips from DHW outlet at bottom of Remeha boiler,

Hi all, We had a Remeha Avanta Plus (39c I think) boiler installed about 3 years ago. It's been pretty well behaved but today out of the blue it started dripping warmish water from the bottom (the DHW outlet according to the manual). Is this something I can fix myself by tightening...

Bath mounted pull out shower hose..dribbles in the void! ;o)

Hi there, We've got a new bathroom and its all great I just had a quick question about our pull out shower. It's this one here. I just wondered if you guys thought we ought to do anything in the void underneath the hole you pull the showerhead out of to catch any dribbles that run back...

Low energy bathroom downlighters. These any good?

Thanks for that. Blimey that was a good price, I can't find any deals quite that good at the moment, I will keep looking though. I don't know if I can use reflector style GU10s? Or do I need to/ought to stick to downlighter ones?

Remeha 39c running pump after *cold* water demand?

Ahh that's great thanks for that. :) We are halfway through a new bathroom installation at the moment so maybe it's one of the unused pipes for that or something. Cheers again, Andy

Remeha 39c running pump after *cold* water demand?

Hi there, I've just noticed that my Remeha 39c is firing up for a couple of seconds after I turn a cold tap off (only when it's been running full, strangely)? It's not a big prob but I'm pretty sure it didnt used to do it. The operating modes on the display when it does this shows as...

Low energy bathroom downlighters. These any good?

Gosh who woulda thought a post about lighting a bathroom would create so much excitement? Thanks for all the info guys, in terms of suitability I think downlighters might be ok in this case as it is the worlds smallest "family" bathroom (1.85m2). If we use 4 downlighters that should...
