Low energy bathroom downlighters. These any good?

Thats really helpful, thanks for that. No we don't need fireproof I think those just caught my eye on that site as they were the only fittings that specifically mentioned low energy bulbs. So you can just use any standard GU10 bulb in a bathroom? i.e. It's only the fitting that needs to be...

Low energy bathroom downlighters. These any good?

Hi there, We are just about to have our bathroom redone and were looking about for some nice low energy downlighters suitable for use in a small, steamy bathroom. Having seen a link on the forums here to lightsaver.co.uk we had a look on there and found these. I just had a couple of...

Cool, thanks for that. Yeah I am sure I referred to it as a magnaclean on my last discussion with him, i.e. "Where's the magnaclean?" and he just said "Oh it's under the floorboards on the landing". It was only today when I asked him about it again, he said "oh no it's not a magnaclean...

Ahh whoops, it turns out that what I thought was a magnaclean is actually a scale inhibitor.  Is that alright to stay under the floorboards and carpet then? i.e. It won't need to be accessed as much as a magnaclean would? Rad in the airing cupboard was moved to the right place...

Thanks Jez, On the condesate pipe thing he said that as it dropped, verticallyas soon as it left the property it wasn't an issue. I don't know if that mitigates the need for insulation/wider bore? The magnaclean we will look to get moved to somewhere where future cleaning etc. of it is...

Say wah? Where have I claimed any technical know how? I came on here asking questions because I don't know about this stuff. I asked some questions on the job as there were some bits I wasn't sure of. Some of those questions proved to be pretty relevant (e.g. wot no earth bond?) and have...

Heh no, it's just that a couple of people have suggested that the boiler might not be getting enough gas, I thought it might be worth checking. He's coming back to move the rad on Tueday so it'd be good to know before then if it's not performing to manufacturers spec. 8) It really...

Hiya, I just measured DHW flow rate at the bath hot tap. It comes out at 17 litres per minute, which is greater than the 16 litres +35 degrees C quoted by the Remeha 39c. So I guess it makes sense that the temperature drops when I turn the tap all the way up. I've not got any kind of...

Thanks for that, i was led to believe that if the tap could draw a lot of water it could take more hot than the boiler could deliver and that the temperature would therefore drop? Andy

Thanks guys, the system was powerflushed so should be relatively clean, there are still some old rads though (we are replacing them room by room) so there could still be a bit of crud rattling about the system. I'll definitely look to get the magnaclean shifted then. Cheers, Andy

Yeah we have fitted carpets. :? Maybe I'll see if he can move it to the the airing cupboard or something, it struck me as a bit odd but I wasn't sure how often it would need to be accessed.

Just a bit of an update, the plumber came back on Saturday... - He fitted the earth bond to the gas pipe (there wasn't one). - He said the condensate pipe doesn't need to be wider bore or insulated because as soon as it exits the house it drops vertically and then joins the main...

Hi swidders, I only called him back on these issues last night and he's coming out tomorrow afternoon. I left it a day or two while I gathered opinions on here and assembled my snag list as you suggested. I'll let you know how I get on. Cheers, Andy

Thanks for that, would this DHW leak be inside the boiler then or on a run of pipe somewhere in the house? Andy

Aye it's not great. Hopefully there will be some way around it or something we can fix to lessen the effect. We looked at the Vaillant but space was an issue and most installers we chatted to said you paid a bit of a premium for the name with Vaillant versus the Remeha. the 5 year guarantee with...

Hmm it doesn't seem to. I ran the hot tap for quite a while with the TRV turned right up and it didnt seem to get warm. It seems that is ruled out. Andy

The boiler just did one of it's little random firings up. The room thermostat said it was an ok temp and no one turned a hot tap on. It went 1, 2, 3 (indicating it was firing up for DHW). Then it went back to 1 for about 15 seconds then it went to 6 for about 2 minutes. If 6 is the pump...

Gareth - Thanks again, alas P4 is already set to 2. :? I see position 1 is Eco mode, might that be worth a try? The user notes mention "external calorifiers" or some such as being bad things to have if it's set to Eco mode, I dunno if I have one of them, my guess would be not? Andy
