Any tips/tricks to work out whether top coat has been put on ?

OK I've got myself in a real mess by trying to do too many things at once. I have a load of woodwork painted white. The primer I used was Zinsser Bin Aqua. Then I've applied some topcoat (white satin). My problem is that they look so similar and now I can't remember what I've put top coat on...

    LVT on staircase risers

Very grateful for your advice. I definitely would not have thought of that product and would have used LVT adhesive, which, although incredibly strong (I had to take up some of it recently and doing so, even with heat gun ruined the plywood it was glued to completely !), takes quite a while to...

    LVT on staircase risers

Music to my ears ! Thank you :) Yes, it's all flat except for the bottom step that has a rounded corner where the newel post is. I have bent the LVT by applying a bit of heat with a paint stripping heat gun. Seemed to work like a dream and maintains it's curve when cooled :)

    LVT on staircase risers

Thanks for your reply Of course, you are quite right that screws would be visible from "under". We have 3 stairs at the bottom, then one square mini-landing, then 9 stairs to the top, and indeed, once you're on the mini-landing you would be able to see screws on the top 4-5 stairs. The LVT is a...

    Painting a staircase

Try not to laugh too much. I wanted to paint our main staircase black and white - black treads and white risers. Preparation took absolutely ages, as it's 100 years old and had been painted before. I worked on it for about 5 hours a day for 10 days. So I used Ronseal knot...

    LVT on staircase risers

Hello all I would be grateful for any tips about installing LVT on the risers of a staircase - the treads are painted. Specifically, is there any adhesive you would recommend Also, any tips for ensuring that the stick well - obviously I can't put any weight on them, being vertical. Maybe I...

    Alternatives to Zinsser Peel Stop

I am now mid-way through applying top coat: Ronseal Diamond Hard Floor Paint (3 coats). This is recoatable after 4 hours, and full cure after 6 days. My follow-on question now is: How long should I leave the final top coat before applying RockTop ?

    Alternatives to Zinsser Peel Stop

Hello I am painting a staircase. The treads will be black and the risers will be white. It was painted About 6 months ago, and started to peel almost straight away. It was painted with Ronseal Knot Block Wood Primer and Undercoat White (2 coats) and then 2 coats of Ronseal Diamond Hard Floor...

    Worcester Bosch 37CDi upgrade ?

I have a 12-year old Worcester Bosch 37 CDi. The house has been extended (loft extension) a few years ago and it now has 7 double rads and 9 single rads all together. I've been told this is quite a lot for that boiler. We don't use much hot water because we have an electric shower and kitchen...

Radiators are very hot, even with boiler temp turned right down

Yes, it goes up even higher - it reached 79 before I got a bit scared and turned it down. But it wouldn't go lower than 55 until the desired room temperature was reached.

Radiators are very hot, even with boiler temp turned right down

I have investigated. After the room temperature reaches the desired level, the boiler stops and the temperature display falls to around 36 degrees.

Radiators are very hot, even with boiler temp turned right down

The boiler seems to stay around 55-65 degrees C when the radiators are hot. I am not sure what it does when not calling for heat - I will investigate when I get home this evening - thanks !

Radiators are very hot, even with boiler temp turned right down

Unfortunately I didn't mention the hot water temperature, since it is adequate for our needs (I just mentioned it above in case it was relevant to the radiator temperature) Yes, we have a wall thermostat / digistat, which seems to fire the boiler up when needed. It's just that after the boiler...

Radiators are very hot, even with boiler temp turned right down

Thank you. I normally have pre-heat switched off (eco on) but occasionally leave it on by accident after a reset.

Radiators are very hot, even with boiler temp turned right down

I have a Worcester Bosch boiler Greenstar 37CDi that is about 8 years old. I have noticed that our radiators get very hot. So I have turned down the temperature to it's lowest level - but the radiators remain very hot. In fact it appears that the temperature control is having absolutely no...

boiler pressure suddenly and randomly lost

Hi and thanks again. Yes, we have suspended wooden floors downstairs (no cellar), except in the kitchen which is concrete. I remember that they concreted over one of the ch pipes that was running across the kitchen floor (the kitchen was previously also suspended). It makes me wonder if the...

boiler pressure suddenly and randomly lost

thank you ! If the pressure relief valve were faulty, water would come out from the overflow pipe outside, the house, right ? That's bone dry. I've also had a bucket underneath, and it's completely empty. There is a pipe from the boiler that connects to the house waste water pipe. I thought...

boiler pressure suddenly and randomly lost

Can anyone offer advice about how to proceed ? Are there some tricks to locating a leak ? The latest info is this: as far as I can tell, the system has not lost pressure at all during the night time (when it's off). It only happens during the day. We previously had it set to come on at 5AM, so...
