    Botched dental surgery installation pics

Here are some pics. Any comments? (1) The only cable he had was 3 x 1.25mm round flex, which wouldn't fit through the grommet on the main suction motor. So he originally ran two bare (i.e. blue and brown) wires stripped from a length of this from the suction motor to the amalgam...

    Botched dental surgery installation pics

Thanks Andy, pictures to follow, tomorrow if I've got time. Yes, the wires were originally just individual blue and brown, single-insulated lengths. And they were routed right next to the metal hinges of the cupboard that the unit's installed in. Your're right, the plug fuse was left at...

Sorry, Andy, I'm from Oxford in the UK. I just wanted to see what the Khazakstan flag looked like

    Botched dental surgery installation pics

My boss has just had an "amalgam separator" installed at work - a motorised device for sifting out potentially toxic metals from our waste water before it goes into the drains. The installation was carried out by a well-known dental equipment supplier, and the total cost was well over £1000...

Quartz and Digistat problems WB 35CDi Mk1

As for the digistat losing synch, have you or your immediate neighbours recently acquired any RF/wireless home gadgets e.g. DECT phone, wireless modem/router etc.? Nick.

Back boiler needs replacing - still allowed??

Thanks Chris. I'm working on second-hand info from a not very technically-minded young lady, so it's difficult to say what the fault is, but from the way she described it, it sounded like the main HE. Again, I'm worried that an unscrupulous installer might be trying to sell her a new...

Back boiler needs replacing - still allowed??

Thanks Corgiman (and everyone else). I've had a quick skim through that document - very useful though some of it's not that easy for a layman like me to understand, especially as I haven't actually seen the installation :? I see that if you're replacing a back boiler and a condensing...

    Cold radiator in attic

Has it got a TRV (thermostatic valve) at one end? If so, these can jam if they're left switched off for any length of time. Freeing them up isn't too tricky - take the plastic head off (unscrew the collar by hand, or loosen one screw), spray with WD40, then wiggle the little brass pin up and...

    worcester-bosch high pressure.

Totally agree with David :D The expansion vessel is a big metal container, usually red, fitted with a valve like you'd find on a car tyre. Press in the valve's plunger briefly and you should hear a bit of air (or inert gas) hissing out. But you'll probably get nothing, or a face full of...

Back boiler needs replacing - still allowed??

That's interesting & helpful, M_M :D I'm not a CH expert and don't really understand SEDBUK ratings so I'm still a bit confused... The Baxi site still lists loads of models, most of which have got a SEDBUK rating of about 75%...

Back boiler needs replacing - still allowed??

Evening everyone, A friend from work has been told by a "reputable" installer that her back boiler is beyond repair, and that due to changes in the Building Regs, it is now prohibited to replace it with a similar model and so she'll need "a whole new system" I've heard something...

Do radiant/convector gas fires for balanced flues exist?

Thanks, Keego. the Sahara RS looks nice and has got a good heat OP, but it's a shame to have to pay about £400 for flame-effect when it's not really wanted. But worth considering nonetheless. Cheers.

Do radiant/convector gas fires for balanced flues exist?

Cheers, Nige. Looks like the Bantam is still current, and has an O/P of 2.1kW - not bad at all. It's not pretty though  Are there any "traditional" ones available, i.e. with a ceramic bit that glows orange when it's on? (Nothing obvious on the usual websites as far as I can see).

Do radiant/convector gas fires for balanced flues exist?

Thanks, Chris. These ARE still current, but only have an output of 1.5KW whereas I was hoping to find something with 3 or more. Worth bearing in mind though :)

Do radiant/convector gas fires for balanced flues exist?

Hello everyone, I'm enquiring on belhalf of a friend who lives in a ground floor flat in a 1960s purpose-built 3-storey block. The flat is currently heated with (newish) electric night storage heaters and gets rather chilly at this time of year :( A gas fire seems like a good solution for...
