Thanks Guys, As it turned out I bought the high carbon ones as the handles seemed more comfortable then that of the stainless, I can always change them if you think the stainless ones are better. Mark

Are you suggesting that you think both the thermostat on the boiler and the motorised valve have developed faults at the same time?

    3 hole basin taps

You could always try a standard set of taps with a tap hole stopper in the middle. There are a number of different sizes and colours of tap hole stoppers. This would increase your options uite a bit. An alternative to a tap hole stopper would be a seperate pop up waste and plug. Deva sell...

    Toilet Seat Pads

Bathjobby, Please accept my apologies, I thought you were implying that I should just go and buy the Cree pan as a solution, I hadn't realised that you didn't know what a Shanks, anit vandal Cree pan was (not that it really matters anyway). By Shanks I meant Armitage Shanks, Cree is a...

    Toilet Seat Pads

Bathjobby I'm unable to interpret why you posted a question mark. Maybe you are unable to understand the reason I posted the question. I'm looking for seat pads, not a new pan with pads included. The post made is clear that buying a pan with seats attached was the closest I'd come to...

    Toilet Seat Pads

Guys, Can any of you point me in the right direction as to where I can find toilet seat pads? No merchants seem to know who manufactuers them or sells them. The closest I've come is the Shanks Anti Vandal Cree pan (with pads attached) however this it outrageously expensive. Any help...

    Tap Problems

Spares for this tap are available, however in my opinion I'd throw it away and get a new one. If I'm right the inner cartridge is plastic (instead of brass). I've been to repair over 10 in the last 12 months and now just tell the customer he or she would be far better replacing the whole...

Sealing an old WC waste pipe

Any of you guys or gals able to give me some advice? Can you tell me how the waste outlet on a WC pan used to be sealed to an old lead waste pipe? From what I can gather it's obviously some form of putty? I'm due to replace a pan in the next day or so and would like to know what the best...

    plumbing,,,combi boiler,,,help!!

Redcaz, By turning off your cold water mains you will also stop the supply to your combi and hence when turning off the stop tap you will stop the flow of both hot and cold. As mentioned drain down (usually best downstairs so that any remaining water in the pipework above will drain down)...

Creating a new hole in a galvanised water tank

Cheers Chris, Tank is in a school, council asked me to quote for the work to replace a ball valve, I advised updating the tank as it is 30 years old but the council was having none of it!!!! I specified that damage may occur to the tank as a result of the process of creating a new hole and...

Creating a new hole in a galvanised water tank

Thanks Breezer. I have a collection of holesaws (all cheapo ones admittedly). They fail miserably when trying to create a hole in a SS kitchen sink, is this because they are cheap or would all holesaws fail regardless? If quality makes the difference then I'll opt for that option. Mark

Creating a new hole in a galvanised water tank

Guys, Wonder if any of you could tell me the best way to produce a hole (approx 1 1/4") in a galvanised water tank. The tanks is not corroded so shouldn't fall apart, too easily at least. Your opinions/ideas would be appreciated. Mark

    Outdoor Cleaner

Will using bleach shift the algea (green and black) that has stained my stone slabs? I used some Jeyes Patio cleaner today (does not contain Jeyes fluid) but that didn't seem to do anyting, this was on top of using a pressure washer. The only other thing I could think of was sand blasting it...

    Outside taps

I can't believe that any plumber would fit this rubbish. I couldn't recount the number of times I've had to go to customers houses to replace self cutting taps due to faults with the check valve. Any plumber worth his salt should do the job properly using good quality parts and not DIY kits...
