I'm going to test the water shut-off solenoid at the weekend & work from there. the hardest part will be getting the thing apart. I might also borrow the PAT tester from work.

    Indesit DG6145 dishwasher trips house

My Indesit dishwasher trips the house shortly after the fill cycle starts. It's not the element as the water doesn't get to that level & it trips on each programme. Any ideas???

    cleaning washing machine water jacket

My washing machine smells of stale water & I would like to run something through it to try & clean it out. I know that soap scum builds up in the water jacket & I run a 90degC wash every so often. what can I run through it to give it a really good clean?

    manual for stud detector needed...

It has stopped me drilling through a live wire that was buried on the other side of a wall I was drilling into so it can't be all that bad! I did check visually before but there was nothing to see.

I've forgotten how to use it! Also, when do you need to adjust the unit with the small screwdriver in the battery compartment?

How to clean a roller quickly and effectively after use?

Throw the roller away? I know it's wasteful but if the refil is only £2-3 is it worth wasting 20 mins cleaning it? As Dirk said, wrap it up in clingfilm or a bag, mine was OK after a month!

Removing existing socket & replacing with a spur

I probably will if I can get all 3 conductors in the screw terminals. Still stuck with getting the old cable out & the new in though!

Removing existing socket & replacing with a spur

It just seems the ideal time to put a socket in since there's no light or power up there at the moment. what's the best way to replace the original cable in the conduit?

Removing existing socket & replacing with a spur

OK, here's the situation. The house was rewired years ago & the person who did it ran the cable (2 x 2.5mmT+E) in conduit on the surface of the wall (original single T+E wire still in the capping in the wall). As I don't really want to chase the new cables into the wall, can I pull the...

    Tingle

it's spooky when you read a post the same day you decide to re-wire the shed. Here's mine... SWA from house to shed, into junction box for shed power & off to the garage for light & power. Outside the shed there's a security light switched from the garage & the house, I always assumed...

    Indesit Dishwasher leaking

I have an Indesit DG6145 dishwasher that is intermittantly leaking & have checked & cleaned the door seals but the problem is still there. Last night I put it on a wash programme & it leaked, I switched it off, opened the door to see if there was any crud in the seal & shut the door again &...

New Roof for an old shed

I have the same project in mind although mine is currently corrugated asbestos. My shed (brick built) is 1870x3370mm with 2 beams at approx 1100mm & 2200mm sloping down the length. I am probably going to go with triple wall polycarbonate as the shed will be used as an office although I'm...
