Fernox LSX on weeping pump valves

Thanks - or I could try draining enough from the system to replace the valves I suppose. I would only have to drain a small amount as the pump is situated very close to the F/E tank. Only thing is I have one of those British Gas installed combined feed vent pipes. Does anyone see any issue with...

Fernox LSX on weeping pump valves

Hello, I have a open vented system with a Potterton Suprima 30 non condensing boiler from 1999. The system is fine apart from weeping pump isolation valves. I had thought about draining and replacing however we intend to renew the boiler, drain and flush the system in the summer and obviously...

Air Vent Cap top cylinder coil

So it operates like a bleed on a radiator? I ask because I am going to drain a bit from the system - only enough to change the circulator valves which are about a metre below the tank. Problem is I have a combined feed and expansion pipe. Will there be any issues with refilling the water drained...

Air Vent Cap top cylinder coil

I have an open vented system with a cylinder in the airing cupboard. There is what I believe is called an air vent cap or capillary air vent cap tee'd from the top pipe coil pipe entering the cylinder. it has a small grooved part which is threaded and screws up and down. I am curious as to the...

Replacing circulator valves using Drayton Easy drain kit

Don't much fancy doing the job myself now as ive read how difficult it may be to undo the pump unions. Got a quote from a plumber of £25.00 per hour labour but said it may take at least for hours as he will do a partial drain down and he said if he gets air locks when refilling the job may take...

Replacing circulator valves using Drayton Easy drain kit

Ok so no need to use the bleed key that came with the bungs. One last question - any considerations to take when removing bungs. I assume a little air may have entered system during this process. Will bleeding the pump be enough to sort this or will I have to bleed the rads? I don't know if this...

Replacing circulator valves using Drayton Easy drain kit

Ok, got the Peglar ones so thats sorted. On the Easy Drain kit it says 'After releasing some inherent pressure in the system with the bleed key supplied, and building up a vacuum by allowing water to flow for about 1 minute, any single item such as a pump, valve or radiator may be removed...

Replacing circulator valves using Drayton Easy drain kit

The drain kit would let me plug the feed and expansion pipes in the tanks and supposedly 'suspend' the system in a vacuum. I could therefore change the valves without having to drain the system down.

Replacing circulator valves using Drayton Easy drain kit

Yeah its these that are leaking and need replacing. They are not the type that can be fixed.

Replacing circulator valves using Drayton Easy drain kit

I have a vented fully pumped central heating system with a Potterton Suprima regular boiler all installed 15 years ago. The property is a small 2 storey 3 bed semi with 7 radiators and a cylinder. I have 2 leaking pump valves that I would like to replace preferably using the Drayton easy drain...
