Why ask someone who's incorrectly laid slabs for someone else to lay yours?

any bricks below dpc will get wet because they are in contact with the ground, if the bricks above the dpc dont get wet it proves the dpc is working

yes im sure you have but im looking at it from the perspective of someone that hasn't and is wanting to do the work themselves, but yes if hes willing to hire a man and a machine then that is the best option

hiring a mini digger to do what? take up the existing concrete? hire a breaker instead

lots of garage roofs and guttering contain asbestos, its not the dangerous kind, i dont see any reason to remove a roof thats doing its job

use a long drill bit just bigger than the cable, drill through the mortar or the brick, when you think your almost through apply only light pressure to minimize inside damage, when through leave the bit in the hole and remove from the drill, hold the cable flush with the end of the bit and use...

if the roofs not leaking why get rid?

I believe it has been "tied in" - if by this you mean attached to the existing brickwork. I don't know by what method.I don't believe there is a Damp Proof Course (thanks Google) but I didn't think this was required for bricking up a hole. there should a strip of DPC wheres hes closed the cavity

i was told you soak them and it hardened them up, plus we used to stick them up with a bit of finish and them being wet helped them stick

not seen any of these in while, used to use em when i worked for council, you soak em in water a few minutes before you fit them. sorry no help to you though, i didnt even think you could still get em :)
