    Replacement Shed T&G Cladding 6" x 1/2"

oops just noticed you said 6"x1/2" in your title. Still, I'd give local timber merchants a go if you haven't already.

    Replacement Shed T&G Cladding 6" x 1/2"

Have you tried a local timber merchant? Sounds like you are after the metric equivalent of 6 inch boards which seems reasonable enough. You can get boards that width here, but not in the thickness you want...

Is it on a party wall? If so, I believe you would need to serve a party wall notice to your neighbours.

    Old Swimming Pool -> Pond

If you wanted to go down the liner route, you could get a made-to-measure box welded liner which you then drop into the pool.

    Shed Advice II

Try AB timber products. They are based in Chesterfield, but I believe they deliver and install across the UK. They made and installed a shed for me a few years ago and I was very impressed by all aspects of their service. I think they make everything to order and really seemed to know their...

Shed flooring / joists size question

All I meant was given scbk's post about joist size that the reason you are seeing a lot of those larger joists on US plans might be because of their availability/price, not because they are required.

Shed flooring / joists size question

How cheap and easily available timber is in the US compared to the UK is probably also a factor. If you bought 6x2 at Home Depot (a sort of US equivalent to B&Q) it would cost the equivalent of about £1.50 a metre. You can't buy 2x2 for that price at B&Q. I don't know if they even stock 6x2.

Alternate to drilling to fit curtain rod

Somewhere like Wilkinsons or Dunelm Mill will probably sell a sprung tension rod. Be aware though that if this goes inside the window recess it will be less effective in stopping cold air entering the room.

Alternate to drilling to fit curtain rod

Maybe some sealant is required around the frames. If so, you should be able to remedy that without anyone noticing.

    PIR switching on at random

I have a Wickes security light with built in PIR outside. It's been there for about 5 years with no problems. Recently it has started to spend more of its time at night on than off. It's not on permanently, but switches off then back on after a delay of from a few seconds, to a bit longer...

    re-laying patio, subbase or not?

Yes, it is different. Lean mix concrete is gravel+sharp sand+cement at 6:3:1 (or all in ballast+cement at 9:1).

    Garden Decking Question

If materials are £400 then you're paying for labour at £700. (Let's ignore all other expenses for now.) How long did they say the job would take, and how many of them will be working? If there are two of them and they worked properly for 2.5-3 days the quote sounds about right: roughly £150 a...

actually I see that there is a bit on this here too: http://www.pavingexpert.com/featur01.htm did you see the bit on "breaching the damp proof course"? That looks like it tells you what you need to know.

not really an answer, but about half way down this page suggests you can put the steps right up to the house and use a membrane. http://www.pavingexpert.com/dpc01.htm

Garden Wall Project - help required

Will you not be filling the gaps in somehow anyway e.g. with soil, gravel, etc. Certainly the instructions for this walling system say you should backfill each course. I assume that includes the top one.

Garden Wall Project - help required

Are you really worrying about a cut that will be all but concealed by the blocks either side, and in any case only visible from the back, and even then only if you don't bring soil or plants etc up to the back of the blocks?
