I have a Wickes security light with built in PIR outside. It's been there for about 5 years with no problems. Recently it has started to spend more of its time at night on than off. It's not on permanently, but switches off then back on after a delay of from a few seconds, to a bit longer. There is no obvious cause (no cats, no wind, nothing moving nearby etc). Tonight I have covered the PIR with a towel and it is still going on and off. Can anyone think of any other likely causes? How likely do you think it is that it is a faulty PIR? I would change the unit, but I don't want to go to the trouble and expense if I can help it.

The PIR senor is faulty, most likely had it day and requires replacing.
