Spark plug change - what tools do I need

Also worth seeing if you can get some penetrating oil which is specifically for this kind of problem rather than general purpose wd40.

    Frontera wheel nuts.

Tony, Those bolts shown have a cap on them. I believe underneath that then will be round (to match the key). They are Evo Trilock. this is the page I got the picture from: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/products/208538/evo_trilock.html

    Frontera wheel nuts.

The ones I am thinking of are an after market product. Its been a long time since I worked in the car trade so I'll have a think and see if I can remember the name. It might be worth asking Vauxhall anyway to see if they are standard. Al

    Frontera wheel nuts.

If its the kind I am thinking of then you'll be extremely unlikely to get a replacement for the removal tool as they are all slightly different (to prevent them being used to steal wheels!). Get them off any way you can and fit a new set. Not worth the time/money to do anything else.

Ford Capri Mk3 Not Starting At All

As I was a student it became a bit expensive for my lifestyle as it wasn't economical to drive or insure. I sold it and bought and Escort instead which I hated for the 2 years I drove it.... Glad you got the battery sorted out. You should disconnect the battery if the car isn't being used...

Ford Capri Mk3 Not Starting At All

I had a C-reg 1.6 Laser a few years back. Good fun car to drive albeit a little underpowered. Fantastic fun in the snow though, made it worth every penny. Was a good reliable car too and had loads of room round the engine for working on it :) As others have said, if you can jump start it...

    pipework for a back boiler

Ah yes, sorry about that. Its a Baxi Bermuda 57/4M. I take it removing the front fire is a job for an RGI?

    pipework for a back boiler

I'm trying to figure out the pipework for our system but as its a back boiler I cant see where the pipe connections are. I also cant see much under the floorboards or in the adjoining cupboard where the cylinder is. I'm presuming the pipes must enter from the right hand side of boiler, would...

    Any ex smokers? UPDATE

I gave up just over 2 years ago on my 30th birthday having smoked for more than half my life at that point. I used to smoke up to 40 a day depending what I was doing. I got together with the (now) wife who is a doctor which made a massive difference. You have to want to give up and if you...

hot water too hot - thermostat or valve or something else?

Last night I had the hot water off for most of the night. While the heating was still on, I checked the flow and return pipes. The flow was warm, return cold. I'm presuming that as the flow is further up the boiler that it will be warm if there is hot water in the tank? New thermostat...

hot water too hot - thermostat or valve or something else?

There is no immersion heater so its definitely not the cause ;) I had the system drained down at the weekend and after refilling I had the HW turned off while trying to get house warmed up and the radiators bled. the flow pipe for the HW was warm/hot but the return was pretty cold which...

hot water too hot - thermostat or valve or something else?

The valves are Honeywell V4043H1056. I've just checked the operation temp of the flow pipe at the cylinder and it was warm (heating had been on) to start with. I put on the CH and there was no change. Turned on the HW and it got hot (and you could feel the water going through the pipe)...

Boiler extinguishes after a few seconds?

there is one big difference between a boiler and a car, by law you need to have an MOT test every 12 months for the car. The service is optional but recommended for both.

    Solder v Compression v Pushfit

Over the weekend I've drained down our central heating, added thermostatic valves to all but one radiators and moved/replaced one radiator. I used compression fittings as I've never tried soldering and hence cant. I dont like the idea of pushfit. the above took me 2 days, taking my time...

New toilet leaking between cistern and toilet

I'd take the cistern off and check the holes for any imperfections which might be stopping the washers from sealing. They shouldn't need to be any tighter than you can do them by hand. the rubber washer should flatten down as its compressed and make the seal. Normally there are only...
