    Drawings for Planning Permission

To answer your initial question - if you know the layout your thinking of getting permission for then it shouldn't be hard to create some decent plans that would be more than adequate for planning. Download Google Sketchup - you should be able to use that to do accurate drawings! Or just get...

    Bathroom back to brick

I did this last year and re-plastered the brickwork. We left it as a scratch coat where we were going to tile and it provided a nice key for the tile adhesive to grab to. It also means if/when we slip or fall out of the bath or on a wet floor there is no chance we'll dent the wall! I know...

    Gate post and wall

As you don't want to attach anything to the neighbours house it might be problematic to do anything other than screw a bit of wood in place. I would suggest constructing a 'fence'. Get 2/3 lengths of featherboard and a single arris rail. Chop the arris rail into 3 lengths to go from the post...

    Brick slip flooring?

Hi all, has anyone got any experience laying brick slips as flooring? I have a period house and am looking to recreate the 'original' flooring that would have existed in the late 1800's. I'm hoping it will end up looking something like this... http://goo.gl/RSsaQR Thanks in advance!

Cost of Limecrete floor slab v 'standard' concrete slab

Hi all, it will take a long time to explain why I'm asking this, so I won't, but... What is the difference in cost between a limecrete floor slab (specification available at https://goo.gl/NnCb8M) and a 'standard' concrete slab? If anyone could offer a rough price per m2 for each I would...

entrance to sloping gravel drive.... cold lay tarmac/brick

We're about to tackle the last task of our house renovation... the drive. My questions are at the end but to set the scene... Our drive is in a slight slope down to the pavement and road - probably a 50cm drop from the garage floor to the pavement over 8 metres. We have already edged...

Extra Flat Sink Bottle Trap & Building Regulations

Hi all, I've just bought this trap due to a severe lack of space avaialble under my kitchen sink. (http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Plumbing/Sink+Wastes+Traps/Espace+Extra+Flat+Sink+Trap+1+12+Lengthening+Piece++Adaptor/d20/sd3299/p54424) This will take waste from a 1.5 bowl sink and...

    Worktop Joint near sink...again.

In the house I've just moved out of the sink was near the corner... you will forever hate having to stand in the corner of your kitchen using the sink - it gets surprisingly annoying over time. There must be a better position for it to go?!

    not enough depth for skirting@

Yea it would not be practical to "thin" the skirting as it would just look wrong as well as being very hard to achieve.. I have got a plane but ruled that option out... And Dextraneous - thanks for the suggestion but don't think I'll go with that route lol

    not enough depth for skirting@

Ha... that would be the easiest way! Although wouldn't offer the wall much protection! Think I'm going to have to go with the plywood route...

    not enough depth for skirting@

Thanks all. It was anticipated ans would have been ok but didn't check up on the plasterers for a couple of days! So... There is no other way the door can open. I don't have the tools to "thin" the skirting. Any other options?

    not enough depth for skirting@

Has anyone got any thoughts on how to fit some skirting where there's not enough depth? Any thoughts would be appreciated! Picture below. .. The door is opening back against this bit so the skirting would restrict the door and be very proud of the frame. I was thinking of using a...
