    Flashing GU10 LED lights

In case this is of help to anyone I thought I would document my experience of putting LED bulbs on a two-way (landing light type) circuit. Having done this a coupe of times now on each occasion I have had the same issue. The circuits previously had halogen GU10 mains voltage spotlights...

Permanent installation of plug-top power supplies

Thanks Ban-all-Sheds for your helpful post 1. So this is an extra-low voltage and not low voltage problem - got that my mistake. 2. If one does permanently mate one of these plug-top powersupplies with a socket then that socket must be accessible for maintenance because it employs screw...

Permanent installation of plug-top power supplies

With so many low-voltage devices now powered from plug-top power supplies (the ones where the power supply and three-pin mains plug are one unit) there is sometimes a need to use these in permanent installations. For example lights - like the ones used to decorate the plinths of kitchen units or...

    Tapping out NPT to BSP

Thanks again. Those adapters look like they would do the job - and with a lot less risk. Much appreciated.

    Tapping out NPT to BSP

It might help if I say that I want to go from 15mm copper tubing into an NPT fitting. I am looking for a better way than just using lots of PTFE tape on a BSP thread. It probably works but I will not be around to baby sit the connections and I want to be more sure than probably.

    Tapping out NPT to BSP

Thanks Onetap. I used to deal with a piece of kit made by NTP so the TLA confuses the heck out of me. Sorry. I do not know anything about Swage-lok. Do they make a converter from NPT to BSP or are you talking about something more involved than that?

    Tapping out NPT to BSP

Colleagues Has anyone ever tapped out a brass tapered NPT thread to get it to take a male non-tapered BSP threaded insert? For use with mains pressure water. I guess you use the sort of tap that can cut a thread in a blind hole. Does it work? Thanks in advance for your answers.

    Plumbed water filters

Colleagues I have just bought a freezer with a built-in ice dispenser. As this does not have any water filter built-in I want to add an external under-sink type filter to go between the mains supply and the freezer. I have decided to use the 10" canister type filters, rather than the in-line...

Best budget (ish) circular saw at the moment ?

I have an Evolution Fury that I bought for almost identical objectives to you Talay. I got mine for a low price - something like the CPC offer (it was a one-off at B&Q at the time - damaged box or something). I am not an expert but it looked like this to me: You can get saws with bigger blades...

    Air Admitance Valve

Colleagues I am in the process of altering a stud partition wall and rebuilding it. I have opened a hole in the wall and can see inside. Within the wall is a pipe of around 125mm diameter and I believe at the top an AAV. The wall is between the bathroom and dressing area so it is plainly a...
