Cheap concealed cistern - replace button with flush plate?

Hi all, I was hoping someone could help or at least tell me there's nothing on the market for what I'm after. I bought a cheapo cistern kit from eBay, something almost identical to...

Hi ColJack, I wonder if you would be willing to share your email/phone number? I read in a post that you're based in Stourbridge and I'm looking for a local (I'm in Rubery) spark that can self-certify. Thanks, Simongii (Simon)

    partial ring re-wiring

That makes a lot of sense - thanks. I've been convinced that a spark in early doors is the right thing to do. Cheers

    partial ring re-wiring

Just considering it at the moment. I don't know exactly how old the wiring is and before redecorating and moving wanted to get as much work done as possible. I'd rather do it now for preventative measures than have to do it in 2/3 years time when it would be more difficult. Fair point...

    partial ring re-wiring

I see your point. I shall find professional to check that the current installation is up to scratch. If so, and if I still felt the urge to re-cable parts of the ring main myself would this constitute notifiable work?

    partial ring re-wiring

Thanks a lot for the response. Rings do have an RCD - yes. Got it - the socket in question is definately on the ring itself. Cable is completely undamaged at the moment. The only reason I am even considering changing cable legs is because the room is gutted at the moment and it's...

    partial ring re-wiring

Hi, I am currently modernising a house. Though the house is 1950s the electrics in there aren't "too bad" (my opinion based on no experience!). It has a modern consumer unit but the older wire colours. We're re-decorating each room at a time and I was wondering what I could get away with...

    Bedroom to Bathroom

Thanks again Richard for the repsonse. I understand re. the electrics. I think you're right it'll be easier to get a pro in and self certify. But if I were to do the DIY route it's notification before work - got it. The Wickes fleece is at: http://www.wickes.co.uk/invt/207303 I think...

    Bedroom to Bathroom

Thanks Richard, that's given me a few things to think about. I will get onto Bromsgrove Council to discuss notification. This is the first part of a project to totally revamp the whole house, bathroom, kitchen, loft conversion, garage conversion etc. so I suppose I'll have to make some friends...

    Bedroom to Bathroom

Hi all, Firstly, I'd like to thank you all for the lots of tips/help I've gleaned from this site in the past. Though I've only joined just now, and this is my first post I've used this site as a primary source of research before embarking on many previous DIY jobs. We've just bought a...
