Drains testing - Using drain test plugs / stoppers

I'm attempting to water test a newly laid run of underground drainage, using 100mm stopper. However, I can't get the stopper to stay in place. Even when it appears to be rock solid, every time I fill the system with water the plug gives way after 10 mins or so. There is approx 16 linear meters...

    Underground drainage advice

Do BCO's expect to see the underground drainage scheme with pipes connected to the chamber bottom only, or should I do the base concrete and fit the risers before making the call for an inspection?

    Underground drainage advice

Have a 450mm plastic inspection chamber to install - does this need to sit on pea gravel, as per plastic pipes or should it be bedded onto concrete? Also, what is the exact spec for bedding/back filling plastic underground drainage pipes in a trench - 100mm pea gravel bed, infill either side...

How close to ground level with full trench fill?

...as I thought, cheers for confirming. Due to the nature of the site (sloping) and a relatively high dpc on the existing structure, any foundation concrete will be covered in later stages of the project by slabs for a patio / path etc

How close to ground level with full trench fill?

Have 1000mm deep trench excavated in prep for full fill of concrete. The groundworker is of the opinion the fill must stop 100mm below ground level at the highest - however, I used this method once before and filled right up to ground level, the bco didn't complain. Has something changed in the...

Ground supported floor advice - is screed layer necessary?

Many thanks for clarifying Noseall. I've seen hardcore/concrete/insulation/sand&cement screed spec'd so many times now that I assumed the screed was part of the regs!

Ground supported floor advice - is screed layer necessary?

Looking at the regs, there are several diagrams for solid ground supported floors, one of which illustrates ground supported floor construction being (in reverse order): 1. Compacted hardcore (max 600mm) 2. Sand blinding (min 50mm) 3. DPM 3. Rigid insulation (min ?) 4. Concrete (min...

    Remeha Avante Plus not working

...bled all the rads a second time, drained a small amount of water out of the system via the boiler mounted drain **** on the heating return side, powered off and on again (with the heating switched to 'fully on' position) and let it run through the power up cycle... The hot water now works...

    Remeha Avante Plus not working

...apologies for hijacking an old thread... I'm getting the E10 error on a remeha avanta plus combi boiler. The pressure in the system is fine. On power up and reset, it works through the system checks for 2 or 3 mins, tries to fire up for a few second and then goes quiet, begins to issue the...

Underground drainage connect to existing inspection chamber?

Hi, I'm planning to extend my property (bungalow), the ext will contain an en-suite, therefore need to get the waste away. There is an existing inspection chamber in the garden - however, the angle at which the new drain (green line) will connect contradicts the flow of waste. Is there...

Is Enforcement of Restrictive Covenants Common?

Please don't apologise - I wasn't aware LR provided such info and online too - I've been educated! ...in this scenario how would a neighbour know that there is a restrictive covenant stating 'cannot build within 15 feet of the boundary' on the property I wish to purchase? If they aren't...

Is Enforcement of Restrictive Covenants Common?

Is Enforcement of Restrictive Covenants Common?

Neighbour to one side has extended (with living accommodation not a garage) to within 3 feet of the boundary of the property I wish to purchase. Either they didn't have the same restrictive covenant, they ignored a similar restrictive covenant or reached an 'agreement' with the persons entitled...

Is Enforcement of Restrictive Covenants Common?

Sifting through the title deeds of a property I'd like to buy, of note is a restrictive covenant stating 'no building other than a garage shall be erected within 15 feet of a dwelling on an adjacent plot'. Presuming the purchase completes, I plan to extend the property along one side (subject...

Opinions regarding 'width of house' in respect of side ext

Yes, I am proposing the same. Simply genuinely surprised that the authorities allow a structure of this significance to be erected so close to a boundary, without any planning consent. Assuming sale completes, I will be taking advantage of the PD rules, which will save at least 8 weeks of...

Opinions regarding 'width of house' in respect of side ext

Yes the ridge will be less than 4m, it's a very shallow pitch on the existing roof (which my diagrams don't reflect). What surprises me is that a neighbour can erect such a sizeable structure so close to the boundary, without PP - I would be seriously miffed if my current neighbours did this!!!
