    Finally, a grown-up government.

My point was, as is obvious, since I said it, that the Brexers were unable to agree what leaving would entail. Since they wanted different and contradictory things. Therefore Brexers are doomed to disappointment because they might have thought they knew what they would get. And not got it...

    Finally, a grown-up government.

Ivor thinks that the members of the club have nothing better to do than think about than an ex-member. He is mistaken

    Finally, a grown-up government.

Since I resigned from the golf club, I have to pay every time I want to play, they won't let me in the members lounge, and I am no longer allowed to attend the AGM to express my views, or to stand for the committee. Are they trying to make my life difficult?

Slimline USB Chargeable PIR LED 'cabinet light strip' for external use?

Mine do not charge enough in winter. They run flat by early evening.

Is this main breaker box and subpanel setup correct?

Remind me what the "S" stands for in TN-C-S

    Finally, a grown-up government.

Actually, people have wised up to the folly of Brexit. And the old codgers you sneer at are the ones who wanted it

size of battery needed for my solar panel

For the usage you describe, you would to better to keep a spare battery in your car, which the car can keep charged up, and carry it into the caravan on each trip. If you had two batteries, you could leave one in the caravan. Your 120W panel might possibly prevent it going flat enough to die...

    Asbestos in ceiling?

Congratulations on your good fortune. It carried off an old school friend, who in early life was a site manager demolishing and redeveloping office buildings.

Slimline USB Chargeable PIR LED 'cabinet light strip' for external use?

I have some pir lamps that take an AA battery. I bought the biggest capacity rechargeable I could find and charge them in the house, and swap them when necessary. I have a spare lamp so I swap the whole thing which cuts down on time standing outside in the cold and rain. I would be happier...

    Downlight stuck, can't change bulb!

You can also stick the fabric-type Elastoplast strapping to it, and hit that. Try wiggling it left and right to loosen.

Damp Patch and Slight Darkish Stain on Bedroom Wall

Wider pic please. I think you mean the damp is over the flue, but I see no chimneybreast, so is the chimney projecting from the outside of the wall? Is it wet with rain? There are typically two flues in a chimney, one from the ground floor fireplace and one from the first floor. The ground...

    Finally, a grown-up government.

Amusingly, biker boy has recently taken to claiming to be "on the fence" and denying being an anti-EU shill.

    Finally, a grown-up government.

This continues to be true, even though biker boy doesn't like it being mentioned. It's an important reason why Brexers are doomed to disappointment.

What sort of damp is this?

Condensation behind furniture is very common, as it blocks heat so, if external, that part of the wall is colder, so condensation forms on it. If the wall is damp, the furniture impedes air circulation so it does not evaporate off the wall and into the room. To my eye it looks more like a...

Soundproofing Party Wall & under floor

Heat loss through a suspended floor is mostly by draughts round the edges, where there is a gap under the skirting. Unless you have very gappy flooring, there will not be much draught in the rest of the floor. Heat loss is by conduction, convection, radiation, and draught. Convection and...

    Downlight stuck, can't change bulb!

Can you show us one of the bulbs you took out? With the old-fashioned filament bulbs, if it was stuck and the glass broke, a clever trick was to cut a carrot to fit into the remains of the base. You could push and twist really hard to get it out. Kitchen-type rubber gloves give a better grip...

Soundproofing Party Wall & under floor

It is probably 9 inch brickwork, and 4 inches between adjoining flues. Cavities between semis and terraced houses are AFAIK quite a modern innovation to reduce noise.

Soundproofing Party Wall & under floor

Yes, the joists are probably pocketed into the brickwork, and there are probably gaps. You would to take up at least some of the floorboards for access. Clean out loose material by scraping and using a builder's canister vacuum (not a domestic vac). You can pack them with sand and cement...
