I've been replacing bulbs in my downlights and some of them are siezed closed, will not turn to pop out. I had good luck with a squirt of wd40 in the gap for some of them but the last two are being stubborn bar stewards. Any ideas on how to loosen them open?

Photo of one in case that helps. They have two lugs that twist into place

Many thanks!

Can you show us one of the bulbs you took out?

With the old-fashioned filament bulbs, if it was stuck and the glass broke, a clever trick was to cut a carrot to fit into the remains of the base. You could push and twist really hard to get it out.

Kitchen-type rubber gloves give a better grip on glass.

I think by two lugs, you mean bayonet cap?

Sorry hopefully this is clearer - the two lugs slot through this gap and twist into place. Good idea about kitchen gloves.

Trying to attach photos of the actual lugs and tech issue with image size. Hopefully will follow shortly

Carefully use a screwdriver on one of the 3 ridges and tap it round to start it, the heat warps the metal and makes them bind in, sometimes best to remove the fitting from the ceiling to. do it
If you don't want to scratch it use a bit of wood rather than a screwdrive

You can also stick the fabric-type Elastoplast strapping to it, and hit that. Try wiggling it left and right to loosen.
