See this is the thing, it’s hard setting timers because every day can be different. I guess keeping both on at the controller 24/7 is costing more money, even though the hot water might not be actively coming out of the taps and the thermostat on 0?

Yes this is exactly it. Is it best to keep the controller in the kitchen constantly on for hot water and heating or will this consume more energy? We’ve left it on and just use thermostat to turn heating on/off. Hot water is obviously just always there

Weirdly we have one radiator in the hallway that doesn’t have a knob on the side to dictate the level of heat. And this one has stayed on

Hence the top switch being left on and the bottom off, when we moved in.

Heating stopped working when top switch was turned off. Made a weird noise too when switched, whilst thermostat was on

Ex Sorry what did you mean in the last bit? Do you want me to see if heating still works with both those switches off?

We have a thermostat in the hallway. These photos are from the inventory before we moved in, the heating and hot water are constantly on (red light lit up) on the programmer

Okay thank you… which switch is for immersion, top or bottom sorry? And that means there is no cheaper time of day to run it? I have turned both switches off for now should I have the immersion one on.

Yeah this was my question, I can just turn off both switches seen on left in picture #2? No electricity alone isn’t that of course…

If gas is cheaper why would our bill be about £70 more. Worrying from our perspective

It’s not estimated. Second bill. Took readings when moved in, first months was fairly high too… So we can turn off the immersion? We have two bathrooms so will the gas boiler in kitchen do everything? Sorry for so many questions

Electric was £105, gas was £90. This is for two of us in a two bed flat. I was told gas is cheaper since we lived before in an all electric flat, which was much cheaper each month. Shall I turn both those switches completely off?

Sorry maybe you misunderstood. I’m wanting to know in detail how my set up functions. I’ve seen stuff about economy 7 but clearly I’m not on that.

Hi, First of all apologies for having zero knowledge about any of this… But our energy bill was through the roof this month. Both these switches by the main boiler in cupboard were on. Then there’s this other one in the kitchen. I just need some understanding of how this set up operates...
