    Draughty upvc window - adjustment

As Browney says its the hinge not locating properly, change it like for like, looks like a easy clean egress type of hinge, might as well get a pair and replace both. The problem is the lug at the end of the hinge part thats attached to the opener is not locating in its keep which looks...

Muslim protesters set fire to Giant Poppy on Armistice Day

Your not far wrong mate, but its against the English, just search youtube, altho the UAF are a sworn enemy of what I believe in, theres a vid of a copper in full riot gear, hitting a UAF activist, in the face with his armoured glove, not once, a few times till he was knocked to the ground...

UPVC double glazing .. Expansion ?

If they are white windows you should be fine, not much expansion on white, dark woodgrain is another matter! If possible you should get yourself a foam gun and fill the expension tolerance, approx 5-10m around the frame with foam, double joy as you 'fix' the frame and allow for expansion.

Need to adjust uPVC front door - but how??

Good point crank, its ok (good) to toe and heel, totally useless unless the hinges are set to a 'mid' setting. And people, its not hard to do!

Replacing a manhole frame and cover

Without being to simplistic you just need to break it out, take off the cover, get a chisel/bolster and bash it (with a hammer) from inside, under the old frame and work it all the way round til loose, clean off any old mortar and relay on 3:1 sand cement mix, jobs a good'un!

What battons to use for scratch coat?

Not being funny fella but why not let a spread do the whole thing? Save all your faffing around and (if you get a good'un) it'll be done right. Speaking for me, I'd be a bit dubious of skiming a diyer's attemp at dubbing out.. sorry.

    How much for a conservatory

Yeah, Synseal been about for a while, make sheild too and Global roofs, not a bad frame, will do what it says on the tin and is probably mid table. You might find a smaller firm/sole trader that can offer a better package, maybe Kommerling/Ultraframe at a competative price due to no over heads.

    Big or small?

Nice question! I'd always say small firm cos I am one! Its deffo a lottery cos you may find a great little compnay but get the lousy builder/fitter in the ranks.. I'd say shop around, dont get sold anything, meet the boss if possible and get a feel of the company, your gonna spend a pretty...

    polystyrene balls coming out wall

It was a form of cavity insulation, blown in thru small drill holes. Didnt agree with the electric cable which was also run in the cavity years back, made it sweat/over heat and in some cases cause a fire in the cavity. As long as the escape holes have been blocked up you should be fine.

    How much for a conservatory

Depends on what roof and frames system really, I know K2 havent put up their roofs yet (well not all of the price increases) so would be slightly cheaper than say Ultraframe, same for a cheaper profile like Duraflex over say Rehau.. glass also is a consideration, is it low e in the frames etc...
