    Draining/refilling Combi system

Next silly question..... my boiler has a digital pressure reading, when boiler is off at the switch so is this display. Therefore do i turn it back on just before refilling so i can fill to 1 bar or guess an amount of water before turning on (but risk too much)? Also for 3 above, what should...

    Whats this make of fitting

Ok thanks. The whole house is piped in this stuff. CH (which I am referring to) and drinking water, baths, showers, the lot. Having previously only worked with copper before, what would you do if you had to add to work on the existing system? Presumably if I asked a plumber to add a radiator...

    Whats this make of fitting

I do appreciate the advice. Ive only used copper before so was just after further clarification. The pipe has 'plumbsure' written on the side. Are you saying that the inserts need to be pipe specific and that hep2o inserts might not fit? Ripping the whole plumbing of the house out is not an...

    Whats this make of fitting

Just thinking if i cut close to the tee, il cut thro the insert at the same time. Surely its just 15mm pipe so the hep2o inserts would work?

    Whats this make of fitting

If I chop close to the tee and replace with hep2o elbows would that be ok?

    Draining/refilling Combi system

Hi everyone Apologies for basic questions but iv not done this before.... I have a combi boiler heating system I want to drain down to move a radiator downstairs. 1. Could I close all rad valves upstairs to save time/water draining and then only drain downstairs or would I be better doing it...

Moving rad, capping off other Hep2o

Presumably there is already some sort of coupling between the plastic pipe and the copper tails where they join under the floor already though. This must be the case all over the country unless theres another way to transition this arrangement. Photo taken before rad changes planned so subfloor...

Moving rad, capping off other Hep2o

Hi guys I appreciate the photo is poor quality, but i have a rad i want to remove and another to replace with a wider one. Heating is a pressurised combi boiler. Both rads are piped in plastic pipe with copper tails above floor level. Question is, can I use Hep2o stop ends on this grey...

    Dimmer Switch Question

Probably a stupid question but im not sure..... i have 2 way switching in my lounge. 1 gang switch at one end and a 3 gang switch at the other end (2 of these 3 gangs are for other rooms). Can i replace just the 1 gang switch with a dimmer and leave the 3 gang as it is?

    Downlights & Ceiling Roses

Hi there Currently have a light in my dining room with only one twin and earth cable at the ceiling. I am assuming looped at a junction box somewhere in the ceiling space (not at switch). I would like to put 4 led downlights (5w each) and two ceiling roses in this room (5w leds bulbs in each...

    Suspended Chipboard Floor Support

I'm yet to read one that wasn't my own suggestion in my original post. I'll not post again in this thread, its obviously very important to you to be able to have the last word, even if you end up having to make up quotes to facilitate this.

    Suspended Chipboard Floor Support

The world has gone mad. Using the words 'fat' and 'lass' in the same statement is clearly too much for public consumption. I had merely drawn this tongue-in-cheek comparison between the deflection of my floor with that of the wobbling excess weight of a big boned lady. No swearing or nuffin...

    Suspended Chipboard Floor Support

Hi guys Downstairs suspended floor, 2x9 joists, 400mm centres with span of approx 4.8m with chipboard on top. Currently it wobbles around when walked on. 1. I've lifted a board and joists look sound but 2x9's in size seem under spec'd to me? 2. There are no noggins so my plan is to put 3 or...

wetroom shower floor - what's correct

I'm not a plumber but personally, I would tank it and tile. Given the screen closes, its not just an opening, its downstairs and the position of the drain i wouldnt worry about the level to the right.

    three tanks in loft

The small one will likely be F/E tank for central heating. One big tank is likely to feed into the bottom of your hot water cylinder which pushes the hot water out the top due to the pressure of the head height of the tank. I'm betting the other tank feeds the cold water to a shower somewhere...

What could happen if I install and wire a new downlight in the kitchen

Your consumer unit might become self-aware akin to turning on skynet in the terminator films. Either that or nothing. It is however impossible to tell you on a forum which of the above scenarios is most likely.
