Just for closure incase I or anyone else stumble upon this thread in the future. No the colder weathers coming in, the heating has been on a few times and (touch wood) seems to be working as expected.

You also have to be careful if testing with things like laptops. Some of them have issues re-connecting to wireless networks properly if they've been sleeping or hibernating.

Yeah, thats what my thought process was leading me to. It's just a little slow to heat them up, but I'm thinking that may be because of the higher ambient temperatures at this time of year.

Could be interference from other wireless networks in your area? Try downloading something like inSSIDer. That will show you the channels that all the wireless networks in your area are using. I'm not sure how much configuration you get with a Sky router but it should hopefully allow you to...

My Ideal boiler wiring all runs to a junction box so I don't go near the boiler itself. I also don't have a water tank which also simplifies things.

@shambolic Would an outside temp sensor in an existing central heating setup be an issue for an installation of Nest?

All of the wires involved are contained within a junction box below the boiler. He shouldn't have to open the boiler to change anything. I certainly didn't.

Lesson learnt on that front. Too late for me sadly. I've got an electrician that specialises in Nest installs coming out in the next couple of days. If he confirms the wiring is okay, then I guess it's a battle with the plumbers to convince them it's a plumbing issue.

The boilers not been touched, just the wiring in the junction box. I'm tempted to put it all back and see if it works. But then they'll claim putting the Nest in in the first place "broke it"!

The plumbers said they were working. Water was flowing. But the boiler was cutting out after a few seconds.

So to my surprise, the plumbers did turn up. They're saying it's an issue with the Nest setup. The boiler fires up but the flame icon goes away after about 10 seconds and the water temp falls. Any ideas what this could be?

If you tested it by switching of your wifi then it'll still work wirelessly. It uses its own wireless network to communicate with the Heat Links, not your own household wifi. It only uses that for external communication (so you can control it away from home, etc) and for updates.
