Now that's a good idea. But 10mm would be too loose for the nails.. does threaded rod come in smaller gauge?

Anyone know where these can be gotten or fabricated for a reasonable price in the UK? Normally on formwork jobs you have a welder tack a heavy bolt to a steel rod and cut some sleeve from a fence rib or such but I haven't been on a site with welders on it for years now and could use a new one...

Biscuit jointed some 20mm planks but still not closed (think my error was not tightening regularly as they shrank once indoors) so was thinking of worktop jointing bolts but do they come in anythng as shallow as 10mm.. the planks are too shallow for 20mm deep fittings?

I need to countersink some hinges to better fit standard zinv pz wood screws... so should that be 90deg (steel)?

Cheers, already have everything to do that job so just a case of getting round to it now. It's one of those jobs that seems to get longer all the time..

Thanks for the replies. I need the length as these are to attach flaps on an island breakfast bar. The holes have been overdrilled with me faffing about plus i want to be sure of the stregth on the hinge side if eg. someone falls against it when open. Guess i'll have to source a metal...

Do they exist? I have a load of hinges to fit and #8's are sitting too proud while a #6 is too small.. need them as long as poss so 2" or more but pref 3".. zinc/stainless finish pref.

Damn, thats gonna stick out a good bit. Is that depth neccessary for getting the fittings on? Won't work on the flat?

I've got the above chopsaw and am now getting a lot of splintering on the underside when cutting as the gap in the plastic support is too wide. Anyone know where you can order these without getting reamed?
