    Dripping Boiler

I replaced the thermostatic radiator valves on the radiators the other week, refilled the system and bled and refilled where necessary. Yesterday evening I noticed that the boiler is dripping water, it seems to be coming from somewhere above the filler part where the key would go in (will...

    New boiler ideas

We have 12 radiators, all doubles apart from 1, I will try what you suggest later this evening and see what results it gives. The boiler has been 'refurbished', new pump, new expansion vessel, new fan, new heat exchanger, new intake water valve pieces and also the outlet water valve piece...

    New boiler ideas

I am contemplating replacement of our boiler which is currently a Worcester 28cdi Combi. The boiler itself works and I don't have any issues with its reliability other than I believe it is insufficient for the type of property and that when it was installed by the previous owner no though...

    Which TRV Valve

I found the RAS-C2 for £7.80 from Travis Perkins, so will get those, only £2 per unit more than screwfix's own brand.

    Which TRV Valve

Nice device but expensive, especially since I have 15 Rads in the house. Think I will either go for the Danfoss ones or the Siemens, probably end up with the Danfoss as I can't really find the Siemens in many outlets.

    Which TRV Valve

That was the one I was looking at - the only other one was a Siemens and a Honeywell.

    Which TRV Valve

I have some failing TRV valves currently and have been looking at getting some replacements and doing all of them at the same time. However, I am not sure what the differences are between them and if the expensive ones are any better than the cheap ones. What are the recommendations?

Miele G646 SC Plus dishwasher leak, posible circulation pump

Found a possible solution (only been fixed for 24 hours so we will see if it continues to work). It was the rubber seal behind the rotor that degraded and had a 6mm cut in it. The solution since I was unable to find a seal and didn't want to buy a complete replacement kit as it was not...

Miele G646 SC Plus dishwasher leak, posible circulation pump

Thanks all done, seems its the first plate other than the second that the rubber seal has degraded, alas Miele want £64.42+VAT for the item, tad on the overpriced area.

Miele G646 SC Plus dishwasher leak, posible circulation pump

I've just taken the Miele G464 SC Plus dishwasher we have apart as the pump was constantly on. The bottom was full of water and activated the leak protection system. I cleared out the water and run the machine again, this time I noticed that around the circulation pump at the rear of the...

Options for preventing water ingress in French Doors

Thanks, was thinking about that too but you just confirmed my theory. The only thing is that the water seems to run up to the bottom of the door and then seep into the bottom area. So I can understand what you are suggesting to do, but how would this prevent the water seeping through.

Options for preventing water ingress in French Doors

Thanks, I am not quite sure what a timber up stand is, the only up stand I am aware of is a kitchen one. I have googled it but don't seem to find any pictures to demonstrate what you mean precisely. Do you have a picture? Also aware of your comments regarding painting - just one question...

Options for preventing water ingress in French Doors

Took me a little time - here are the pictures as you requested. I have ordered up some flush bolts which should in theory be arriving shortly to install in the top and bottom of the doors. However the problem is still how to prevent the water ingress from the bottom.

Options for preventing water ingress in French Doors

I have a pair of French Doors that I am in the process of refurbishing. Previously a lean-to existed over them thus partially protecting them. I have removed the lean-to and now the doors are exposed to the elements, while we have no issues with drafts today because of the rain it seems it...

    Fixing a new hardwood sill

I have taken out a rotten sill of an external door and have cut down the replacement to size, primed and ready to attach. Firstly, I wondered if I needed to put some DPC down, previously there was slate and that is still in situ. Secondly, how best do I attach the sill to the frame? I...
