Which to go for...Bosch or Metabo

I have been looking for a set of tools, impact driver and drill driver. I have narrowed it down to either the Metabo PowerMaxx kit (Cheapest I have seen is Lawson HIS at £174) and a Bosch GDR/GSR-Li-2 kit at £160. What would people recomend? Metabo -...

    New Consumer Unit

[/url] The quote was for half a days labour to do just the cooker, test, install etc, or a full day for the consumer unit, a flat fee for both which shouldn't take more than a day - but I have got some other work for him to do also so it is really taking something out leaves a difference of...

    New Consumer Unit

I've only had one quote for the moment and it's £220 for just the cooker, and £380 for a new box and the cooker, to be honest I would rather do the new box for the little extra, especially if I add other things that require space from the box. I was also wondering the size of the box is 5+5...

    New Consumer Unit

I recently purchased an induction hob but after looking at installation it would mean I would take the only spare socket in the consumer unit to have it wired in. So thinking logically it would be more prudent (and cheaper in the long term) to change the consumer unit at the same time. I...

    Pressure Reducing Valve

Thanks for the reply, I have the older unit part number QZ something (will dig it out exactly). I will take a look and see if it has the on/off switch you refer to. If I do place two pressure reducing valves between it can you tell me what to look for when purchasing them. I noted...

    Pressure Reducing Valve

I am not quite sure, I did ring them up now to just ask them and got someone else this time who said you can't fit one of those with it because it won't work. Even though they told me you could previously. Basically it is an aqualisa digital shower that I plan to change from a gravity fed...

    Pressure Reducing Valve

Hi, I have been told by a manufacturer that I need to fit a pressure reducing valve to the inflow of the hot water to reduce the pressure bellow 1bar otherwise the system will not function correctly. I have looked at pressure reducing valves but noticed that a lot of them are restricted in...

    Fitting a kitchen myself?

Oh and one other thing which I forgot - if you go to these places you mention you will only obtain one size of kitchen unit, depth and hight usually. If you look at http://www.alno.co.uk/static/online_journal/flash.html#/114/ it will explain the differences in height and depth available...

    Fitting a kitchen myself?

All those places you mention will give you a kitchen, but I would recommend you also look at a German Kitchen to see the difference in quality - take a look at Alno, RWK, Poggenpohl. There are a couple of places which get carcasses made in the UK, doors from Italy (as Italians know design) and...

    Fitting a kitchen myself?

I'm just doing my brothers kitchen in his place, the best thing to do if you have no idea is to get a couple of places to quote and do the plans for you - they are free of course :) Then take the ideas and search around - I know peoples perception of kitchens is always different so personally...

Rotten sash windows looking to bankrupt me! (London)

I did a few sash window specifications in the past we have them made abroad by a company either in European Oak for HW or Siberian Pine for SW. We didn't get anything from here because of the cost, a window made and delivered fully assembled, primed and painted to us was only €400 compared to...

New boiler - conversion from combi to system boiler

Yes I used the whole house calculator - I was looking at the Atag A320s system - got a quote for it and not too bad at around £700 - although the Q is better from my understanding but that is considerably more at around @£1300. Has anyone fitted one of these? Can they fit into a kitchen...

New boiler - conversion from combi to system boiler

Currently have a 28cdi Worcester - it is around 12 years old. It heats the house adequately - although this has improved slightly after flushing the system. It still has it's moments when it is really cold outside you have to light the open fire to get heat in the house.

New boiler - conversion from combi to system boiler

Thank you for your helpful remarks! I didn't say I didn't have loft insulation! Because of the size of the house they will not cover any grant to the remainder walls for the wall insulation. As for the windows I have started replacing them and I am not able to install UPVC nor do I want to...

I am looking to convert my combi boiler to a system boiler soon. I have started looking around at different types of boilers, makes models etc and have narrowed it down to three main manufacturers that I am considering. Atag, Viessmann, and Remeha - my problem is when I use the online...
