How to hold down/flatten flashing (leadax)

Actually the Leadax site says Leadax Sealant can be used fir overlaps and keeping it down in high wind. I’ll get that. I didn’t know if the no nonsense lead sealant I have for the chase (not leadax sealant) is the same stuff though.

How to hold down/flatten flashing (leadax)

Found some high tack adhesive for Ubilex online. Says it turns a strong bond with tile, brick, mortar but doesnt mention plastic. Will look into using this or similar if I don’t get other options. Ubiflex looks to be sand ur similar to Leadax. Couldn’t find adhesive when searching for Leadax...

How to hold down/flatten flashing (leadax)

Yes film is off both sides. This is Leadax though it doesn’t have an adhesive side if that’s you mean.

How to hold down/flatten flashing (leadax)

I thought I’d give Leadax a go due to lead price. All seems ok except for keeping it flat down secure to the roof sheets. All images and videos online make it look easy to flatten it down. Mine just bounces up again. I can’t beat it too hard as it’s polycarbonate underneath. Does anyone know...

How to chase big enough slot for Lead flashing?

Just a quick update to say thanks I went to B&q and they have 8mm 115 discs so those worked. As it’s pebbledash I managed only 20mm deep but it was enough to get the hall clips in and hold the flashing. Had to get a few discs as they wear fast and a 15mm depth wasn’t enough after a bit of wear.

How to chase big enough slot for Lead flashing?

But is a mortar raking blade suitable for brick? I’ll be going through pebbledash but am likely to go through brick if I go deeper which I think I should as pebbledash doesn’t look deep enough.

How to chase big enough slot for Lead flashing?

Ok but can’t for the life of me find thicker ones online. They don’t even specify the thickness online just the diameter and bore size. Not even on sites like Screwfix etc. I bought the one I have from Homebase and they’re all like 2mm to 3mm. Although I know Homebase would be a bit more limited...

How to chase big enough slot for Lead flashing?

It’s pebbledash so if I go deep enough I’ll probably miss any motor and am assuming it could be brick. also the sloping edge of my canopy is against part of the house so at an angle that will go through brick.

How to chase big enough slot for Lead flashing?

My angle grinder disc is 2mm or 3mm. How do I chase a higher gap? I can’t find any info about this. All images and videos show bigger gaps. I don’t think 3mm would be enough for lead and sealant especially where the lead will overlap. do I make 3 or 4 runs to get a gap 3 or 4 x the thickness...

Polycarbonate overlap time roof bar issue

That’s a good idea. Will think about that. not concerned about the slipping. As it’s a patio canopy I’m more concerned with high wind in a storm. It will basically be a sail. So needs to be secured from upward force.

Polycarbonate overlap time roof bar issue

When I say purlin I think it’s noggin. I got two timber noggins across from beam to beam to screw sheets onto so they may enough. I’ll give it a good push up when it’s done to check.

Polycarbonate overlap time roof bar issue

If I hold the edge down with my fingers When underneath and force it up with my head, it doesn’t seem like it would come out especially when secured to purlins so maybe it’s ok. I just expected the edge to be stronger seen as it gets clamped under roof bars.

Polycarbonate overlap time roof bar issue

I wanted 16mm thick 800mm wide polycarbonate sheets for my patio canopy. I waited till the roof bars arrived to measure the width of the middle of them so I know how much gap between sheets and therefore beam centres. There’s a 10mm rubber seating in the bars. Therefore I allowed fir this, the...

Strange smell after bath and shower in brand new bathroom

two or three weeks ago. cant see it being linked to the radiator. it happens when radiator is off but a shower or bath is in progress and afterwards. I think the more moist hot air, the stronger the smell. The smell is there a bit without moisture, and warm air.

Strange smell after bath and shower in brand new bathroom

Yeah body odour but it isn’t. I’ve just showered! I noticed today the smell was there when the room heated up from the radiator. Not as bad though. So maybe it’s heat activated and not the moisture.
