Can I wire a plug socket from this?

thanks for the replies. Here is a wider shot. I had to replace some fuse wire the other day and there was defo no asbestos pads there (cant really take one out not to show you). So I presume it was just that old fuse box with some. I understand it is still an old setup. Do you think I...

**please note I am not going to undertake this work myself - just need to know if its possible before getting someone in** Hi all. We have a pantry in our kitchen that contains our fuse box(old school fuses with fuse wires). I would like to hide our fridgefreezer in here out of the way but...

Alternatives to skimming chimney breast required

No bits sticking out but would you need to strip wall back and take original plaster off? Or can skimming be done over the top thinly enough not to effect coving/skirting board?

Alternatives to skimming chimney breast required

Thanks guys. Ideally I want to perfect finish as we're leaving it exposed (no wallpaper) but just painted but without the cost of a plasterer! Looking at it I think skimming the entire chimney breast might be overkill for just the bottom half that's a problem. I'll see what I can magic up with...

Alternatives to skimming chimney breast required

Hi all. So we ripped out the fireplace in our house and bricked up the hole then patch plastered over the hole. Unfortunately after sanding it down and a first coat of paint it looks terrible. You can see the outline of the hole as well as the uneveness of the wall where the fire surround...

    is this a supporting wall?

As you say a supporting wall would be used to distribute load which I don't think it is with only an offset parallel hoist on top and nothing beneath. It's odd how they built a brick wall on top of only floor boards back in the day?. Doesn't seem the safest of ideas these days. House was...

    is this a supporting wall?

thanks for getting back to me so quick. nothing below it (the kitchen, but no walls etc), appears to be sitting on the floor boards which run perpendicular to it. It could possibly sitting on top of another paralell beam below it, but I wouldnt be able to tell would i unless I lift the boards...

    is this a supporting wall?

Hi, We are looking to knock down a brick wall between our bathroom and toilet to make one room. There is no wall beneath the wall to be removed and loft space above it. There is a joist that runs the length of the wall but offset (only approx 1cm of joist actual sits on the wall). This is...
