Using blue circle premixed concrete and how to set something in it

Ok thanks. I just don't get this method though, why is it better to wet the surface surely it would be better to mix out of the hole then pour in but you can't do this as they don't tell you how much water to add (w/v). At what point do the ground stops go in after the water has gone on and stirred?

Using blue circle premixed concrete and how to set something in it

Hi all, I've bought some ground stops for the drop bolts of a wooden gate to secure into. The bolts will drop into these cylindrical tubes which I plan to set in concrete in the ground. I've bought blue circle quick set concrete 30mins which it says to pour and then sprinkle with water. What I...

How to joint patio to house wall

Ok thanks, like an ms polymer? I've got Soudal Fix All and Sikaflex ebt. I've never used caulks across a span of 4 inches, just thin beads. If applied with a gun/tip how do you smooth it over? Putty knife? My experience is they're pretty tacky so imagine smoothing would be difficult.

How to joint patio to house wall

Hi all, I'd like to renew the patio joint where it butts up to house wall. It's variable in depth, maybe 4inches max. What is the best compound to use? What is there now appears to be concrete but maybe it's mortar like the rest of the patio joints but looks more grey to me. I was going to...

    Creaking pvc patio sliding door

The screws into the frame are obviously concealed somehow and can't see any. Are there just plastic covers that pull off to reveal? Have attached cracked sealant around frame on outside. It's not that bad in most places, worst where verticals meets ground. Thanks for the help

    Creaking pvc patio sliding door

I'll have a look tomorrow at the fixings, if I can see them. And take a pick of the sealant cracking around the frame. From videos I've watched they seem to screw the frame through into masonry but don't use wall plugs, maybe that's normal. Is the frame sealant usually silicone based or PU? I've...

    Creaking pvc patio sliding door

Hi all, Our pvc patio sliding door creaks in high wind, I assume it's the plastic bits flexing or at least it sounds like plastic flexing. Is this normal. Also while I'm here, the white sealant around the outside of the frame where it meets the bricks has cracked, should I try to remove as...

How to seal lino floor to tiled wall joint

Hi all, wondering what's the easiest/quickest way to seal the joint where a lino floor meets a tiled wall? I'm not sure scotia would look right and how can it be fixed? can't nail into tiles. Weak adhesive sealant? Using a sealant alone on the join is another option but I find doing a good job...

Best way to take out this fridge freezer

Thanks for all the comments. Yea I think either walking and then angling it down maybe onto an elevated platform or make a dolly. I think I might have some cheap and nasty castors I could use.

Best way to take out this fridge freezer

Ok thanks, was trying to avoid buying a dolly, a decent one isn't cheap and even then would have to increase the height probably with sheets of wood.

Best way to take out this fridge freezer

Hi all, I'd like to take out our fridge/freezer and clean the back-must be bored! It's in quite a tight cupboard, how would you go about it? Is it just sheer elbow grease. Only really one person can get near it. I was thinking if I could get a wheeled dolly of the right height could maybe slide...

    Patio repointing advice

Hi all, I'm thinking of repointing our patio. I have only repointed a few bricks on a wall before with a ready mixed repair product. For the patio I was going to use Blue Circle Mortar which only needs to be mixed with water, it's a cement grey colour I beleive. I suspect I would be quite slow...

    Insulating room in roof

Hi all, We live in a chalet style house where the bedrooms are essentially in the roof. The bedroom walls are stud with uninsulated plasterboard. The studs are visible from the eaves side of the wall and would seem easy enough to put some flexible batt insulation in here, was thinking wood...

    Roof window removal opinions

Thanks for that, good suggestion. It's so dark at the moment anyway outside it's not doing much. Probably in summer we'd notice it more though. But yeah think thats worth doing.

    Roof window removal opinions

Ok thanks, I think for now we'd leave hatch as is and maybe think about changing it to a drop-down in future. Why do you think people struggle? Is it because they do it themself and it's harder job than it looks?

    Roof window removal opinions

Hi all, Just looking for some opinions on this. We have a window in our attic, it's original mid 1960's and it's leaking around the frame and also a little around the glazing bars which are heavily rusted, it's all metal cast iron maybe. It seems it's time for this window to be replaced or...

    Wall vent removal

Thank you wayners for going through the whole process. I'm probably not going to touch outside for now as it's upstairs and don't fancy the ladder work. Thermalite block sounds like good idea and heard that mentioned before but that might be for when it's permanently blocked up which may happen...
