    Drying out roof timbers

Hi, I have had a problem with my roof with leaks comming in through the hip tiles (and through the undefelt.) I had the tiles rebedded last Friday. I think there is possibly still a leak where the hip/ridge/lead valley meet up. I can't be too sure as I think with the amount of damp timber...

    Adding a second telephone extension

It should really go from the existing extension socket, the IDC connecters in the NTE5 don't handle multiple wires too well.

Very hot fused spur switch for underfloor heating

From the description of the smell you will probably find the insulation / switch to have melted a little. Remake the connections to a new switch cutting out the dull copper first if this is the case.

From looking at the circuit schedule it seems the breaker was moved after the inspection. Have you had anyone in to fix faults etc?

Wickes do some http://www.wickes.co.uk/invt/205281. You might want to take one blank out to look at and see if they look the same as the picture. (Power off before removing anything.)

    Odd wiring of Lighting circuit

Thanks. At least thats one of my worries about the inspection out of the way. To be honest the installation doesn't look too bad overall, just on an old Wylex rewireable fusebox and no sign of any supplementary bonding in the bathroom.

    Odd wiring of Lighting circuit

Hi, Sorry to be forever asking for help, but I'm just back from my Grandma's having had to replace a pullcord switch for her in her pantry. Has anyone ever seen lights wired with the live's looping through the switches (wired in 1 x Red core + bare copper sleeved Green/Yellow in a grey...

Earth bonding on gas inlet pipe

My simplistic thinking was that if the supply was off there was nothing to create any potential difference between the pipes on either side of the meter. I'm guessing I'm barking up completely the wrong tree.

    Earth Rod Inspection Pit

Thanks RF. Sorry I had forgotten to mention I will turn off the Consumer Unit Isolator before I disconnect the rod. If it's fine tomorrow I'll be out with my spade to dig the hole for the pit out!

    Earth Rod Inspection Pit

Hi I have an earth rod inspection pit to fix, but to do so I need to undo the current connection to the rod. As it's slightly corroded I plan to trim the end of the earth wire & then expose new copper, clean up the clamp & rod with some emery paper and then reassemble. Is this an...

Earth bonding on gas inlet pipe

If the meter fitter was that concerned could he not of turned the mains off whilst he swapped the gas meter? That being said I think some meter fitters seem to find any excuse not to complete the job, I've had one bounce a 3 Phase meter install as he "didn't like the look of the job" and...
