    Empty coolant reservoir - help!!

Thanks I've kept an eye on the level and it doesn't seem to be going down at all, took about a litre of water to top it up. Have checked for leaks too but can't see anything obvious. Could anyone tell me what this strange tool is that came with the car? It has a hex nut on one end with a hole...

    Empty coolant reservoir - help!!

Fiesta 1.3 Flight 2001. OK I've topped it up with water for the time being. I don't know how long it has been empty because I didn't take the cap off and look into the reservoir - I thought it was full because the orange colour went up to the fill level but it turns out this was just staining...

    Empty coolant reservoir - help!!

Hi I've just noticed that my coolant reservoir is completely empty, and I think I have a leak. I haven't noticed any problems yet in terms of the behaviour of the car, but need to know where is the best place (maybe halfords) to get hold of orange coolant (monoethylene glycol based) to ford...

Spark plug change - what tools do I need

I successfully changed 3 out of the 4 plugs but the first one appears to be rusted in and won't budge. Should I try WD40 overnight and try again in the morning?

Spark plug change - what tools do I need

Thanks everyone, I will invest in some decent tools soon but at the moment I'll just use the spark plug wrench and tighten it reasonably but not too tight. I've been told to do it very tight but not excessively. i'll have to get on with it soon as one of them is really loose at the moment.

Spark plug change - what tools do I need

I need a torque wrench at 17Nm so I've decided on http://www.amazon.co.uk/SILVERLINE-TORQUE-WRENCH-1-2/dp/B000LFTSG6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=diytools&qid=1208863930&sr=8-2 - what else do I need in addition to this to get to be able to tighten the plugs? I know it includes a 150mm extension bar and...

Spark plug change - what tools do I need

Thanks John, you've been a great help. Halfords had everything I needed, but might still get a torque wrench from somewhere to I can make sure they're tightened correctly. I bought a spark plug wrench (like the one in your post), a spark plug brush to clean around it first and some copper grease...

Spark plug change - what tools do I need

OK I've looked at the spark plugs HR 7 DCX and they appear to require an 18mm socket. So I'm going to buy one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Teng-M380042c-Spark-Socket-Square/dp/B0001P0X7Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=diytools&qid=1208774258&sr=8-1 then an extension bar...

Spark plug change - what tools do I need

Hi I'm ready to change the spark plugs on my 2001 1.3 Fiesta Flight. However I'm not sure what tools I need, apart from a feeler gauge to check the plug gap, which I already have. I don't have any other tools and I'm at a loss as to what tools to buy and what size. If anyone has experience of...

    Replacing tyres

Hi I'm replacing all 4 tyres on a Ford Fiesta 1.3 Flight and have decided to use National Tyres. I put the same tyre size I have now into their website (175/65 14) and it quoted £160.00 fully fitted price for the Avon CR322 which is the one I've decided to go for (has a speed rating of T)...

Time for a spark plug change

By the way it is a 2000 registration (the one without Endura written on the engine). Is it normal for the same engine to look completely different? Thanks

Time for a spark plug change

Thanks stupid really! In my car the engine has "Endura-E" written on it and in the other there is no writing. Both look completely different engines but both are 1299cc (checked and their registered as such) and the Haynes manual states that for a 1.3L Endura engine the spark plug is type...

Time for a spark plug change

Hi I'm about to change the spark plugs in two mk4 Ford Fiestas. I've looked at what I need to do the job, and know what type of plugs to get. However the electrode gap is specified as 1.3mm but all the feeler gauges I've found only go up to 1.0mm. Is there something really basic I'm missing...

    Ford Fiesta - multiple problems!

Thanks for the replies, I took the car into an independent and well recommended garage yesterday. Apparently the nearside rear wheel bearing had completely disintegrated and there was a lot of play in the wheel so had that replaced. The exhaust centre box baffles had gone explaining the 'fluff'...

    Ford Fiesta - multiple problems!

I have a 2000 Ford Fiesta Finesse with several problems! Firstly for the last few months there has been a loud whirring sound coming from the rear passenger side wheel which changes in volume with speed and can be best described as a whirring vibrating noise. Since yesterday the wheel has...
