Question about high flow combi boilers

So if our flow rate was 30lpm, we could theoretically get that through a shower assuming we were using the 20lpm from hot, and the extra 10 from cold? I understand it doesn't work exactly like that in practice.

Question about high flow combi boilers

For the high flow combi's that say they have an output of 20 lpm, does that mean it's 20 litres of hot water or hot/cold combined? If the incoming mains delivers 30lpm, then does that mean that a shower could theoretically have the full 30 litres with hot and cold combined through one of these...

Secondary Circulation Loop for a Combi

We're looking at instalilng a high flow combi instead of an unvented cylinder (mainly to reduce installation costs). The installation will be in the garage, and it will be about 10m (pipe length) from the bathroom. Is it possible to install a secondary water circulator loop with a combi? If...

    Wet Room Former

I'm at the designing stage of our new bathroom, and have been doing some research on how to create a wet room - including the importance of tanking and making sure the falls are correct I wanted to ask for recommendations of tile formers for the shower base that you guys might have used? The...

Does this lintel need SE calcs

We'll like to knock through a supporting wall between dining room and kitchen. BC will be informed, but do we need to get SE calcs for the lintel? Builder has an idea of which type of lintel to use, but he's not an structural engineer. thanks

That may well be, but could I get some advice on a vented cylinder with pump set? Thanks

    Vented Cylinder and Pump

I think our pressure is around 2 bar with 12 l/m flow rate. I thought pressure and flow rate are not that important when considering a cold storage tank and vented cylinder solution? Property has 2 bathrooms, and max required flow rate would be 30 l/m

    Vented Cylinder and Pump

Thanks bengasman. But what if it's already determined that static pressure and full flow rate are not at acceptable levels. Would you be able to give some advice on the vented pump solution?

    Vented Cylinder and Pump

I have been reading various threads about the pro's and cons of installing vented vs unvented systems, and it seems clear that unvented is the way to go if you have a decent water pressure and flow (>20 l/m). But what if you don't have decent flow coming through and it is not viable/desirable...

    removing screws with worn head!

i bought the grabit screw extractor (from screwfix) and they are excellent - have helped me with a couple of worn out screws. mine were around 17 quid but you can get ones for about 3 quid that need a bit more work to get them going.

    Wall Chaser Recommendation

Ah, thats a shame, I had kind of made up my mind about this one. If screwfix will replace it then I might just get it. Did the plastic break off when you were applying a lot of force or just from the weight of the chaser?

    Accumulator or Break Tank

I looked at that but it states you can't put it outside - i'm thinking of installing in wooden shed on the side of the house (it will be insulated as best I can)

    Insulation Under Ground Floor Joists

Our house ground is of the suspended wooden joists type with a gap to the foundation floor. This can get quite cold and draghty during winter and I wanted to find out the best way to insulate this. We're renovating the whole house so can install insulation before the subfloor and wooden flooring...

Quietboard floor as an alternative to Plywood or Chipboard

Anyone used 'Quietboard' panels as an alternative to Plywood or Chipboard for flooring purposes? Apparently this is quite a new product and contains cement/chipboard, and has been recommended for sound proof purposes on new floors. I was quite intrigued by it as it's meant to be waterproof and a...

    Wall Chaser Recommendation

I'm fortunate in that the house is empty and being refurbished. The electrics are going in first so I don't mind a bit of mess, but would need to make sure I don't inhale much of the dust created. I have an SDS drill and have also ordered a 3 inch sds chisel - could I use that instead of...

    Accumulator or Break Tank

Looks like I have oversimplified and misunderstood pressure and water flow! We have 2 bathrooms and I wanted to have a system that would give great shower pressure, as well as being able to cope with a busy kitchen. It's doubtful that both showers would be on at the same time, but I would...
