    Precast concrete garages

Thanks wingcoax, There is one adjacent which is old, but seems solid enough, so fits in with your comment. I checked with the company I'm thinking of using, and they use a semi-flush lock, (key in the bottom) and bolts to each corner of the garage door, so can't expect much more than that.

    Electrical supply for garage

Firstly, thanks for all the suggestions, much appreciated. I can't run the supply from the house because I no longer own it! I sectioned off the garden and retained a plot to the rear to build a garage. I've not had a quote to get the power board to install a supply because there is no...

    extending over drains

Hello Richard C and Noseall, I hope you are both right. I can't recall who told me but will try to find the thread. The other difference between mine and calvert's situatioin was that my proposed extension was going to be a bedroom, so don't know if this makes any difference?

    Electrical supply for garage

I'm building a detached garage and it's going to be expensive to get an electrical power supply to it, plus ongoing line charges when the total demand will be quite small. It will have 4 x 6ft single fluorescent fittings, and two general purpose power points, mainly for a kettle and the odd...

    Precast concrete garages

I want to build a detached garage with pitched roof. Has anyone any experience with precast (prefabricated/sectional) garages and how do they compare to traditional built brick n tile, or block and render finish? External appearance isn't too important,,, as only the front elevation will be...

    extending over drains

I asked a similar question a little while ago, except that my drain was going to the main sewer rather than a tank, and was told that internal manholes were no longer allowed,,, and that I would have to move the manhole if I wanted to extend over it.

United Utilities want to replace our meter - why?

Some meters had re-calibration periods of 25 years, some 10 years,,, so it did depend on what type of meter on the frequency of change.

Tumble dryer using same socket as boiler?

Greetings all, Its getting a little complex so,,, 1/ If the dryer is complete with the manufactures lead and 13 amp plug, then it is safe to assume that the maximum load will not exceed 13 amps. 2/ Adaptors are legal, and while many professionals dislike them, one can use them...

    Manhole covers

Hi All, I have a manhole cover which needs replacing, it's in a domestic garden so light duty OK. Are old size manhole covers available? The dimentions are 20 inches x 26 inches or 51cm x 76cm. Nearest I've seen is 45cm x 60cm. I'll change the rim also but would prefer something closer...

Ideal response 120 boilers - ignition problems

Thanx Tony, I see you are an experienced poster here, but this was my first visit, so no idea about the history of the site. So lets move on eh. I understand the 'Tecko' was the guy who originally installed the boiler, but he may be good at installations, but not at diagnosing...

Ideal response 120 boilers - ignition problems

Tony, A bit grumpy are we today, you sound like Basil Fawlty? However, wonder no more Basil, I'm helping him because he was let down, he has no computer, and has a disability, so £££'s are tight. Given that the first tecko had spent nearly 2 hours tying to trace the fault, an...

Ideal response 120 boilers - ignition problems

A friend has a fault with his Ideal response boiler where the RCD circuit breaker in the switchboard keeps tripping out when the boiler is turned on. Had tech round but he had little idea and said he would return with a mate but he never came back. Any suggestions, and is this a common...
