Can I replace those bottom bricks and add a brand new rubber DPC? Or could this collapse?

Thanks noseall. What do you mean by point it? Do you mean replace the damaged bricks and repoint without putting the plinth back?

Can I replace those bottom bricks and add a brand new rubber DPC? Or could this collapse?

The previous rendered plinth was swollen and has been removed. It appears the ground has been raised with concrete by previous owners to create a slope away from the house and the original victorian DPC (some sort of tar) is now only about 2 inches above the ground. There is no particular damp...

Are those bricks still okay or would you replace this? And is there even a DPC on this?

Thank you both. Why would it be better to have 100mm wide of gravel between the brick and the concrete? Would this need a French drain going to the inspection chamber?

Are those bricks still okay or would you replace this? And is there even a DPC on this?

Any view on this? Would it be better to leave as is or ... 1. Do these bricks need replacing? 2. would it be better to lower the ground so that the clearance between the dark tar line (acting as DPC I supposed) is greater than the current ~5cm? 3. Is the rendered plinth coming above the...

Are these drain pipes old clay? Would you change them if you were me?

Thank you all, I learned a lot. Seems we hit the jackpot and got a crazy deep old clay pipe that would be a huge undertaking to replace along with a "+Buchan" hell"! Drainage guys coming tomorrow for a map survey and CCTV hopefully all will be fine... Also if one day there is an issue with...

Are these drain pipes old clay? Would you change them if you were me?

I must say I don't understand all you are saying here however you are quite right that there is always a bit of water in the outlet a bit like in a toilet and yes there is a vent similar to this one and it could very well be linked to that pipe above as you say! We were thinking of removing the...

Are these drain pipes old clay? Would you change them if you were me?

Hi Ree, how are they different, is one preferable to the other?

Are those bricks still okay or would you replace this? And is there even a DPC on this?

Hi All Plinth at the bottom of the driveway was removed as part of repointing. The bricks under it look damaged but the pointing guys did not mention replacing yet. Additionnally I don't know where the damp proof course is, it seems there is a dark line under the air Rick's which could be...

Are these drain pipes old clay? Would you change them if you were me?

Hi All Considering re-tiling the pathway at the front of the house however before putting anything new at the surface we want to make sure whatever is below is sound so we don't have to break the new if we need to fix the old pipes later. We lifted the sanitary cover and saw the below photos...

Are those fused sockets resting on the floor up to regs?

Alright, I think there is a consensus that it could be made better. If it's a matter of attaching a piece of plywood to the feet and fixing waterproof sockets on it so they are fixed and off the floor then let's get it done. You are right @EFLImpudence the sockets are not fused but each is on...

Can't get return temp down, are those rads / pipe (photos) the problem?

Thank you both for your input. Controls is standard vr65 with ebus. Arguably the house does leak a bit but it is terraced with recent extensions so roof should be insulated up to regs from last few years. Front and back facade and kitchen return will be solid 2 bricks though the point is...

Are those fused sockets resting on the floor up to regs?

Hi All Under kitchen cabinets, for washing machine and dishwasher. Fused 13 amp yes, but does it need to be attached somewhere? Thanks

Can't get return temp down, are those rads / pipe (photos) the problem?

Not balanced by myself. All rads seem to get equally hot (to the human touch, not tested with a particular device). Should anything be done on this front?

Can't get return temp down, are those rads / pipe (photos) the problem?

Hi All This is the set-up: 5 beds, victorian, ~1800 sqft, 12 radiators (including 3 towel rads, one in each bathroom / en-suite). Vaillant ecotec 637 plus S-plan. There was weirdly an additional grundfos pump ups2 on top of the internal pump in the boiler. This pump is disconnected so only...

Boiler overheats in DHW mode (can't keep output at constant level, see video)

Hi Madrab, actually the DHW valve opens as expected, primary and return flow pipes do heat up and I do get hot water. It's more the way the boiler is operating which I find a little weird.

Boiler overheats in DHW mode (can't keep output at constant level, see video)

Hi All Vaillant ecotec 637 plus, S-plan external cylinder, eBus control. When in DHW mode the boiler acts weirdly as in it goes full on for ~5 seconds then minimum output for ~5 seconds and this forever until it stops. It's shooting for 75 degrees and with the behaviour of full on / full...

Secondary Grundfos ups2 on vr66 - wiring question

@stem, you have been most helpful. You are right I should create another thread for the revised question on the whole set-up which I shall do shortly. Yes there is a control bias to this question. I guess the answer is if someone wants to wire an optional element to a vr66 (an external pump for...

Secondary Grundfos ups2 on vr66 - wiring question

Thank for your input, much appreciated! Here is additional info and a photo of the pipe work of this install: - I'm positive there is already an internal pump in the ecotec plus boiler (as you'd expect). It is a Vaillant / Grundfos UPM3 and it's wired on the PCB on the X18 connector. There are...

Secondary Grundfos ups2 on vr66 - wiring question

PCB photo added. As you can see the internal pump is in. It's the external grundfos that has to operate when the valves open that is not plugged. Before ebus and wiring centre there was a 230v brown block with the grey cable which has you see is now disconnected and this was going to the...

Secondary Grundfos ups2 on vr66 - wiring question

You're right Stem, there is an internal pump which is connected to the PCB on the x18 connector (green block next to 230v block). I'm talking about an additional, external grundfos pump which is placed on the pipe work near the valves. I guess this was placed to improve the flow (11 rads two...
