    Staining a front pine door

Im about to stain a door. I was going to wipe it down with meths as its a Pine door, let it dry then apply the stain. However I've been reading that its best to apply a product called Shellac? And then proceed to stain the door. Does anyone have any advice in relation to staining a door...

    Replacement ceiling - help please

My plasterboard ceiling has cracked at the joints where they were not taped up. Would it be best to take it down and reboard or is it best to board over the existing? Also should I use 9.5mm or 12.5mm? Tapered? Many thanks for any advice.

Im going to paint some new doors, but not sure where to start. They are Pine veneered. I was going to wipe them with meths then use Dulucx Primer/undercoat then a top coat of crown silk. Would that be the right process? Any tips at all? Many thanks

    Escort RS Turbo

I managed to do it today, how the mechanic could justify charging £50 is beyond me! She drives like a dream, no more cutiing out on start up etc. :) Another garage said theyd do the timing if need be, but feels ok.

    Escort RS Turbo

How hard/easy is it to change a distributor on a S2 RS? The mechanic where it went to has estimated £50. Seems excessive. A mobile mechanic reckons £35. Do I have to let the first guy do it as he analysed the problem? Also some say timing needs to be done, others say its self adjusting? Any ideas?

    Diving door interior design

Hi All, Ive installed a hideaway pocket system where the doors slide into a cavity wall, these are French doors from Wickes. I've now seen a pair of arched doors with flemish panes in that a supplier sells that are slightly taller but about 1.5" smaller than the current 30" doors. These would be...

    Cables for Satellite etc

2 x CAT5E or 6 for HDMI 1 x CAT5E for Internet or other use 1 x telephone (maybe 2) 8 x WF100 - with 4 coaxial cables going to two opposite corners of the room from the Loft (or wherever your central point will be). I say 4 because you'll typically need two for Sky+HD or a Freesat PVR plus a...
